*SOn October 15, in Vinh city, the Institute for Sustainable Forest Management and Forest Certification in collaboration with the Center for Environment and Biological Resources (CEBR) organized a workshop to launch the project "Enhancing the participation of grassroots civil society organizations (CSOs) in monitoring REDD+ programs in Vietnam".

The project aims to increase the participation of civil society organizations (CSOs) in promoting the process.forest management and developmentin Vietnam; building capacity for civil society organizations (CSOs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) in the forestry sector, helping civil society organizations cooperate with each other and with forestry agencies to facilitate effective community participation in monitoring REDD+ programs.

*SAfter storm No. 7, Nghe An province has lifted the sea ban. However, due to the post-storm circulation and tropical depression that is likely to cause heavy rain, warnings of landslides in mountainous areas are advised.

According to the report of the Irrigation Department, Nghe An currently has 280 flash flood warning points in 6 mountainous districts. Of which,17 communes are at risk of especially dangerous flash floods,2,575 households with over 15,000 people affected need to be evacuated when floods occur. The areas warned of the risk of flash floods and landslides are mainly located in 6 districts: Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Quy Chau, Que Phong, Quy Hop, Con Cuong.

*SAfter being discharged from the army and returning to his hometown, Tran Dinh Chuong (21 years old) in Vo Liet commune, Thanh Chuong district tried hard to overcome difficulties and actively studied.passed the entrance exam to the Border Guard Academy.

With a score of 27.5 points for block C (Literature 7.75; History 9.5; Geography 9.75) plus 2 priority points for newly discharged soldiers, Chuong was admitted to the Border Guard Academy. This year, the standard score for block C of the Border Guard Academy for male students from the North is 28.5, Chuong is 1 of 4 candidates from Nghe An who passed the Academy.

*NOn October 15, the Investigation Police Agency of Nghi Loc District Police said: The unit hasprosecute, prosecuted and issued a temporary detention order for Tran Van Hoang (born 2001), Nghi Xuan commune, Nghi Loc district; Duong Duc Nghia (born 2001), residing in Thu Thuy ward; Nguyen Canh Duc (born 2002), and Nguyen Van Tai (born 2002), both residing in Nghi Hai ward, Cua Lo town, for the act of "intentionally causing injury".

Thua Thien Hue Province has mobilized 10 more excavators to support the search for victims. The search is being actively deployed with the determination to approach and bring the victims out of the landslide area as quickly as possible.
