Nghe An: Summary of the project to establish a new type of cooperative funded by Sweden

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 29, in Yen Thanh district, the project summary activity "Establishing a new type of agricultural cooperative according to the 2012 Cooperative Law, helping farmers reduce poverty and develop sustainably" took place.

The project was sponsored by We Effect (Sweden) from 2014 - 2017.

Accordingly, there are 5 communes: Minh Thanh, Nam Thanh, Quang Thanh, Tay Thanh and Dong Thanh of Yen Thanh district participating in the project, including 6 components and 16 outputs.

After 4 years of project implementation, the project has helped cooperatives improve their operational capacity, business opportunities, linkages in production and product consumption; and the role of cooperatives in building new rural areas.

Notably, cooperatives have implemented models of mushroom growing, orange growing, raising hill chickens, wild ducks, and goats according to VietGAP; preventing natural disaster risks and adapting to climate change in agricultural production; protecting the environment in rural areas and fields...

At the same time, the project supported the construction of 23 savings group models with an amount of 550 million VND; promoted gender equality in cooperatives, created conditions for women to participate in community management and economic autonomy, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction.

The initial results achieved will be the premise for Yen Thanh district to replicate the model, enhance the role of cooperatives in the new situation, with the aim of continuously developing the economy of each locality.
