Nghe An: Strange disease appears in cattle, making people worried
(Baonghean.vn) - Buffaloes and cows have many large and small lumps on their bodies, ulcers... Currently, authorities are focusing on implementing measures to contain the epidemic, preventing it from spreading widely.

Mr. Le Van Thuong, a household with infected cattle in Thinh Lac hamlet, said: "A week ago, my cow stopped eating and had a high fever. A few days later, large and small lumps appeared all over its body. These lumps then dissolved, causing ulcers. We were very confused because in our decades of raising cattle, we have never encountered this disease...".

After discovering the disease, Mr. Thuong reported it to the local authorities. Upon receiving the news, the Veterinary Department and the districtNghi Locconducted inspections, took samples for testing and concluded that the above cattle were infected with lumpy skin disease - a new epidemic that appeared in Vietnam at the end of 2020 in the northern provinces.
It is known that in Thinh Lac hamlet, Nghi Van commune, 6 buffaloes and cows of 4 households are infected with this disease.

Currently, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has advised people to isolate infected cattle and buffaloes, take good care of them to increase their resistance and recovery ability, spray disinfectants and sterilize them regularly. If cattle and buffaloes die, they must be destroyed, not slaughtered and sold to the market. For cattle that are not sick, they will be vaccinated to prevent the disease.
