Currently, the crime of property theft is evolving with sophisticated, aggressive, reckless methods and tricks... negatively affecting the security and order situation in the area. Faced with this situation, the authorities have deployed many solutions to combat and prevent it.

Many cases of property theft that have occurred recently have been promptly fought and handled by authorities.

Typically, in May 2025, the Criminal Police Department, Nghe An Provincial Police discovered the theft of metal trash racks at public works in Do Luong district.

The behavior of these subjects not only caused outrage among the Party Committee, the government and the masses but also caused huge consequences, even affecting the lives of people participating in traffic. During the verification, the Police Department determined that the theft of the trash racks was carried out by a group of 3 subjects residing in Do Luong, Thanh Chuong and Tan Ky districts.

It is worth mentioning that in just over 2 months, the subjects have committed 7 thefts of trash racks in the area. The police also clarified that there is a group of 3 other subjects specializing in purchasing and selling stolen property for the above subjects.

The leader of the above mentioned property theft gang is Nguyen Duc Anh (born in 1993), residing in Nghia Hanh commune, Tan Ky district. Joining Duc Anh are Tran Quoc Truong (born in 1997), residing in Da Son commune, Do Luong district and Nguyen Duc Ngoc Anh (born in 1994), residing in Cat Van commune, Thanh Chuong district.

Accordingly, to have money for drug use and personal expenses, Duc Anh, Truong and Ngoc Anh discussed and together looked for metal trash racks at public works to steal and sell.

To conceal their crimes, the subjects chose to steal property late at night on deserted roads with few people passing by. The stolen trash racks were also quickly taken to other localities to be sold that night. In addition to the metal trash racks, the subjects also stole a motorbike from a local resident.

There were 3 subjects who, although knowing that the assets of Duc Anh, Truong and Ngoc Anh were obtained from crimes, still agreed to buy and consume them: Nguyen Thi Hanh (born in 1984) and Chu Thi Hang (born in 1982), both residing in Do Luong district, and Nguyen Thi Nguyet (born in 1984) in Tan Ky district.

The police agency clarified that in just over 2 months (from March to May 2025), the group of subjects stole 48 metal trash racks; 1 motorbike, causing damage of more than 110 million VND.

In some cases, the criminals knew each other before, so they discussed and agreed to assign tasks to carry out thefts to get money for personal spending and gaming.

Typically, in January 2024, the authorities received a report from Mr. LNT (born in 1973), residing in Duc Tho block, Hung Loc ward, about: On the night of January 8, his private house was broken into by a thief who stole 600 kg of aluminum, 1 Kitar 3 OHP air compressor, 2 XingFa aluminum door punching machines, 5 sets of iron scaffolding and some other construction materials, with a total value of more than 170 million VND. On the same day, Mr. MTL (born in 1971), residing in Ha Huy Tap ward, reported that his family had been broken into by a thief who stole a Vertu Signature brand mobile phone worth 70 million VND and some money in a car parked in the yard.

Synchronously deploying professional measures, on January 15, the authorities arrested three subjects: Le Van Ngo (born in 1990), residing in Quy Hop town, Quy Hop district; Phan Huu Phuoc (born in 2000) and Ngo Duc Hoa (born in 1991), both residing in Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district. At the police station, the subjects admitted their violations of the law.

Accordingly, Ngo, Phuoc, and Hoa rode motorbikes through the streets, taking advantage of the families' lack of vigilance, especially at night when the homeowners were fast asleep, to break in and steal property, then sell it and split the money among themselves.

The police determined that the subjects had successfully carried out two thefts of property worth a total of about 250 million VND.

Data in the report of the Provincial People's Committee on the situation and results of crime prevention and law violation work in the first 6 months of 2025 shows that: Property theft still occurs frequently, accounting for a high proportion in the crime structure (only counting from November 1 to April 30, 2025, there were 128 theft cases in the province).property, accounting for 46.5% of criminal cases).

Crime tends to be younger; criminals mostly do not have stable jobs, are lazy, and like to enjoy life. Through the fight against crime, it is shown that the tricks and methods of property thieves are increasingly sophisticated and cunning. The subjects often take advantage of loopholes, shortcomings, negligence, and lack of vigilance of people and agencies and organizations to commit acts of theft of money, phones, computers, jewelry, and the subjects also steal dogs, chickens, livestock, construction materials, etc., causing insecurity and disorder.

Therefore, in addition to the involvement of the authorities, each citizen needs to raise awareness and proactively prevent the tricks of property thieves such as: do not leave motorbikes in deserted places, with few people passing by, out of sight; do not leave valuable assets in visible places, or in the trunk of motorbikes or cars; increase security by installing high-resolution cameras, equipping sturdy door systems with alarms...

For agencies, businesses, and schools, it is necessary to thoroughly educate security forces and employees to raise their vigilance and proactively protect agency assets.

When detecting suspicious subjects, organizations and individuals need to quickly report to the nearest police agency for timely prevention, combat and handling.
