Nghe An recruits and calls 2,700 young men to join the army

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of December 29, Nghe An province held a conference to summarize the work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army in 2015 and coordinating the military handover and reception in 2016.

Overview of the conference.

In 2015, the work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army encountered many difficulties in the context of implementing steps to amend the Law on Military Service and being approved by the National Assembly; it was the first year that the Ministry of National Defense assigned a quota requiring localities to send soldiers to have a rate of university and college degrees of 5% or more compared to the quota for sending soldiers...

Comrade Le Xuan Dai, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee delivered a concluding speech at the conference.

Accordingly, in 2015, through two recruitment rounds, Nghe An selected 2,700 young men to join the army, reaching the target of 100%.

The quality of soldiers has made many remarkable strides: the health index of type I reached 39%, an increase of 0.2% compared to 2014; the cultural index of college and university level accounted for 8%, an increase of 7.4% compared to 2014 and exceeding 3% compared to the target of 5% compared to regulations.

Colonel Ha Tan Tien - Commander of the Provincial Military Command announced the results of the selection and call-up of citizens for military service in 2015.

Regarding military recruitment, last year, the whole province had 4,125 candidates register to take the entrance exam to military officer schools, an increase of 178 candidates compared to 2014; reviewing and preparing records for 3,760 qualified candidates, 587/3,700 candidates passed the exam, reaching 16%.

Regarding the task of selecting and calling citizens to join the army in 2016, it is the year of implementation according to the Law on Military Service passed by the 13th National Assembly with many new points such as: only receiving and transferring soldiers once a year; the term of service in peacetime for non-commissioned officers and soldiers is 24 months; the age of calling for military service is raised to 27 years old for young people who have graduated from college or university.

Accordingly, the province's goal in 2016 is to deliver enough quotas, ensure quality, and on time; continue to call up citizens who have graduated from universities, colleges, vocational training, and civil servants, contributing to social justice and improving the quality of military construction in the new situation. At the same time, the assignment of military recruitment quotas must be linked to the construction area and mobilization of the province's reserve force; after the military enlistment, there will be no return, desertion, or discharge.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested: Localities and relevant units to focus on best implementing the work of selecting and calling citizens to join the army, meeting the goals and targets assigned by the Government, Ministry of National Defense, and Military Region.

At the same time, enhance the leadership and direction of local Party committees and authorities in recruiting and calling citizens to join the army. Do a good job of registration and preliminary selection at the commune level, ensuring fairness, publicity and democracy. Organize a health examination council with the right composition, linking the responsibilities of members with the examination results. Organize well the handover and acceptance ceremony according to the regulations of the Ministry of National Defense and the Military Region, ensuring unity and solemnity, so that the day citizens leave for military service becomes a festival for all people.

At the conference, the Ministry of National Defense awarded the Emulation Flag to the Military Committee of Quynh Luu district for its outstanding achievements in the emulation movement for the entire army in 2015. The Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 districts including: Quynh Luu, Quy Chau, Do Luong, Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc and the Military Committee under the Provincial Military Command for its outstanding achievements in the selection and calling of citizens to join the army in 2015.

Colonel Ha Tan Tien - Commander of the Provincial Military Command presented the Emulation Flag of Determination to Win to the Military Command of Quynh Luu district.

Units signed the 2016 military transfer contract.

The conference also conducted the signing of the 2016 military transfer contract between the military receiving units and Nghe An province.
