(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, the situation of people violating the Road Traffic Law is still quite common. It is worth mentioning that not only are there basic violations, but there are also individual cases of motorbikes and even cars weaving, swerving, intentionally driving in the wrong lane... Such actions are not only dangerous for themselves, but also cause frustration and danger to other vehicles participating in traffic.

Multiple violations

Recently, a person sitting in a car traveling from Vinh to Hanoi recorded images at 5:30 p.m. on September 19, near Nam Cam intersection, in Nghi Long commune, Nghi Loc district, 2 young men of school age not wearing helmets, riding a motorbike with license plate 37B3-145.71, moving in the direction of Nam Cam intersection, doing wheelies, weaving, and swerving. Notably, when arriving at the intersection, these 2 young men did not obey the traffic light signals.

Earlier on the afternoon of August 24, on social networking sites, a clip was shared expressing outrage at the reckless actions of the driver of a Hyundai i10 car with license plate 37A - 329.20 running on National Highway 7 when the driver continuously swerved and only stopped when he encountered a red light at the intersection with National Highway 1A. Due to the reckless actions of the car driver, oncoming vehicles were forced to stop and fortunately no accident occurred.

The image of the driver of a Hyundai i10 car with license plate 37A - 329.20 continuously weaving and swerving was cut from a clip recorded by a person sitting in a car behind on National Highway 7A.

In addition to weaving and swerving, there is also the act of driving in the wrong lane. Typically, on September 17, a clip shared on social networks by a passerby showed the driver of a Mitsubishi car with license plate 37K - 040.83 driving from Ha Huy Tap ward to the Kenh Bac bridge intersection (Vinh city) continuously driving in the wrong lane. When he discovered that someone was using a phone to film him and at the same time reminded him, the driver rolled down the window, appeared annoyed, and then continued driving.

The above are typical cases of swerving and weaving vehicles that have occurred in the area recently. According to Mr. Duong Sy Dan, a resident of Block 8, Le Loi Ward, Vinh City, when seeing images of drivers deliberately swerving and weaving, surely no one will not be indignant, not to mention if they witness it directly, they will inevitably be shocked. This is an act of disregard for the law, lack of culture, and needs to be severely punished.

Verify and handle strictly

In reality, building a culture of obeying traffic laws is the most important measure to reduce traffic accidents. Therefore, intentional violations such as weaving, swerving, etc. are always verified and strictly handled by authorities.

For example, the Investigation Police Agency of Dien Chau District Police has issued a decision to prosecute the case and prosecute Vu Van Ba (born in 1985, residing in Dien Thanh Commune, Dien Chau District) for the crime of "Disturbing public order". This is the subject driving a Hyundai i10 car with license plate 37A - 329.20, who swerved, swerved, and confronted oncoming vehicles on National Highway 7A through Dien Phuc, Dien Thanh Communes and Dien Chau Town at 1:00 p.m. on August 24.

The police determined that while participating in traffic, Vu Van Ba was suspected of using stimulants (alcohol, beer). The subject also admitted that at that time he was driving in a state of not being sober and losing control. It is worth mentioning that as soon as he realized he had committed the crime, Vu Van Ba asked someone else to take the blame for him. However, during the investigation, the authorities determined that Vu Van Ba was the driver.

Regarding the car that continuously drove in the wrong lane on Ha Huy Tap Street, Captain Han Quoc Huy - Deputy Head of the Traffic Police - Order Team of Vinh City Police said that after receiving the images, the Team quickly verified and handled the case. Accordingly, on the morning of September 18, the driver of the vehicle was summoned to work. Here, the driver of the black Mitsubishi car with license plate 37K - 040.83 confessed to being Tran Thanh Tung, residing in Ha Huy Tap Ward, Vinh City. In addition to the obvious violation of driving in the wrong lane, the Traffic Police - Order Team of Vinh City Police consolidated the case file to handle Tran Thanh Tung related to the violation of alcohol concentration.

According to the authorities, weaving and swerving... are extremely dangerous violations of traffic safety and at the same time demonstrate the violators' disregard for the law. Through handling specific cases, there are many subjective and objective reasons for the violators to justify their actions, such as being forced to weave due to traffic jams, in order to go faster because the person in front was driving too slowly...

However, in reality, apart from the subjects who are school-age teenagers who want to show off, show off their skills, and imitate online... the majority of subjects who drive vehicles swerving, weaving, and driving in the wrong lane are due to not being able to control their behavior because they have previously used stimulants, mostly beer and alcohol.

In addition to patrolling and controlling to promptly detect, through images provided by the people, the force will verify and handle immediately. In addition to obvious violations such as weaving, swerving, driving in the wrong lane... the records will be consolidated for handling if related to alcohol concentration violations, with the view of not missing any violations.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Nam Hong - Deputy Head of Traffic Police Department, Provincial Police

As can be seen, the behaviorzigzag, deliberately driving in the wrong lane... is not only dangerous for oneself, but also causes frustration and danger to other vehicles participating in traffic. Therefore, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee has recently issued Directive No. 19/CT-UBND dated September 20, 2022 on rectifying and improving the effectiveness of ensuring traffic order and safety. It strictly prohibits cadres, party members, civil servants, and public employees from the provincial level to the commune, village, hamlet, and village levels from influencing or intervening in the handling of the force directly inspecting and handling violations of traffic order and safety. In the process of handling traffic violations, for violators who are civil servants, public employees, armed forces, and party members, in addition to handling according to regulations, it is necessary to direct the police of units and localities to fully notify the violators of their violations to their agencies, units, and party organizations to handle their responsibilities according to regulations...

This is a necessary directive for the authorities to be more strict in handling violations in general, and in particular, in dealing with swerving, weaving, and intentionally driving in the wrong lane... However, to put an end to this behavior, in the long term, it is necessary to study increasing the fine level further, because in reality, the current administrative penalty level is still not enough to deter violators./.
