Nghe An requires primary schools to resume teaching 2 sessions/day
(Baonghean.vn) - This is the latest directive document of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training on organizing teaching and learning in primary schools in the province.
According to the Department of Education and Training, up to this point, the epidemic in the whole country has been basically controlled and socio-economic activities have returned to normal. Therefore, in order not to affect the quality of education, the Department requires the Department of Education and Training to direct primary education institutions to organize 2 sessions/day. During the teaching and learning period, the management of revenue and expenditure for 2 sessions/day is implemented according to Instruction No. 440/HDLN-SGĐ&ĐT-TC-NV dated March 26, 2019.

Previously, after Nghe An students returned to school, most primary schools in the province taught one session per day and had extra classes on Saturdays.
After the end of the social distancing period, the Department of Education and Training has issued a document on students returning to school as normal. For primary school students, the Department allows schools with conditions to resume teaching 2 sessions/day and organize boarding.
However, due to the hot weather at the moment, many schools in the province continue to organize one session per day. In Vinh city, many schools have asked parents for their opinions on whether to organize one or two sessions per day. Through consultation at many schools, the percentage of parents agreeing to let their children study one session per day is quite high.

With the return to two sessions per day, it is expected that more than 90% of primary schools in the province will simultaneously implement this. Meanwhile, the number of schools that organize boarding for students is mainly concentrated in localities such as Vinh city, Nghi Loc, Do Luong, Cua Lo town and some schools in the central area.
Discussing further on this issue, Mr. Thai Van Thanh - Director of the Department of Education and Training said: The policy of teaching 2 sessions/day has been implemented by Nghe An for many years with a large number of students participating. Therefore, when learning has returned to stability, organizing 2 sessions/day is normal and creates a basis for schools to organize other activities for students. According to the Department's plan, learning will return to normal from the beginning of next week.
At this time, Nghe An is also considering collecting additional tuition fees from students during the time schools organize online teaching according to the latest instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training. However, according to Mr. Thai Van Thanh: the province has no policy to collect additional tuition fees at public schools. For non-public schools, the implementation of collection must be based on the guiding documents according to regulations./.
