Before serving her 10-year prison sentence, Lai Phuong Thao was accused of continuing to impersonate a bank employee to trick people into borrowing money.

Thao, 32 years old, residing in Dang Lam ward, Hai An district, is being detained by Do Son district police to investigate allegations of fraud and appropriation of money from a woman, Hai Phong city police informed on November 9.

Previously, on September 24, Thao raised his voice and caused public disorder with a woman, so he was taken to the Do Son District Police headquarters.

At the police station, Thao said she was a bank employee from 2017 to 2020. Although she quit her job and was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Hai Phong People's Court for the crime ofFraudulent appropriation of propertyReleased on bail because she was raising a child under 36 months old, Thao still received advice on applying for a loan of 20 billion VND for a woman she knew.

Thao continued to claim to be a bank employee, then forged many types of documents such as confirmation of personal savings account balance, confirmation of personal non-term savings account balance, and notification of loan approval results to create trust.

The woman gave Thao more than 800 million VND to handle work, but Thao said he used it for personal expenses and to pay off debt.

Unable to borrow the money as desired, this person asked Thao to meet and then an argument broke out.
