Nghia Dan installs hundreds of tanks to store pesticide containers
(Baonghean.vn) - The model of installing a pesticide waste collection tank in Nghia Dan district has contributed to reducing environmental pollution and beautifying the countryside in the process of building new rural areas.
Based on the reality that pesticide packaging made of plastic, nylon, and bottles is difficult to decompose, if thrown away carelessly will pollute water sources and affect people's health, in early 2017, Nghia Dan assigned the District Plant Cultivation and Plant Protection Station to build a model to install pesticide waste collection tanks for 3 years (2017 - 2020) in 25 communes and towns.

The tank is made of concrete, 1m deep, 1.5m in diameter, has a tight lid that meets the prescribed standards, can hold up to 1.5m3 of used pesticide shells and packaging; is located far from water sources, far from residential areas, and is distributed reasonably in the fields.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tran in Dong Tien hamlet, Nghia Hoi commune said: "Previously, during the production process, most people after using pesticides conveniently threw away packaging and bottles in the fields and along the canals. But now everyone is aware of collecting and reminding each other to dispose of pesticide waste in tanks according to regulations."

This helps farmers form the habit of disposing of waste in the right place after mixing pesticides for crops; at the same time, it also helps to overcome pesticide residues in the fields, contributing to reducing environmental pollution and human health.
