Cua Lo fishermen continuously catch big catches of valuable seafood.
(Baonghean.vn) - In the first days of August, fishermen in Nghi Thuy ward (Cua Lo town) continuously had big catches of valuable fish. There were fleets that earned hundreds of millions of dong per fishing trip.

On the morning of August 8, Nguyen Van Tho's fleet (Binh Minh block) docked at Nghi Thuy fishing port, carrying 8 tons of seafood. The main products were silver pomfret and some miscellaneous fish. After selling to traders on shore, his fleet earned more than 170 million VND. After deducting the cost of the trip, this voyage brought in an income of 3 million VND/crew member.
Also docking, Nguyen Van Cuong's team (Dong Tien block) also had a big catch of fish with a yield of nearly 10 tons, revenue of nearly 200 million VND.
Continuously before that, from August 4-7, the fleet of Mai Xuan Bien, Nguyen Xuan Thanh, and Hoang Van Phi also had big catches of valuable fish, bringing in an income of 150-170 million VND/trip.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Loi, Chairman of Nghi Thuy Ward Farmers' Association, said: "In July alone, the catch of fishermen in the ward reached 3,150 tons; in the first 7 months of the year, it was over 14,000 tons. This year, oil prices have decreased, fish are more valuable, so fishermen's income has increased significantly. The average income of crew members in the first 7 months of 2023 is approximately 80 million VND/person, with some ships reaching up to 120 million VND/person."
Currently, the whole ward has over 100 boats of all kinds, of which 43 are offshore fishing boats. Seafood exploitation and processing is the ward's strength, contributing greatly to the local economic proportion. Therefore, the ward government has had many policies to support and encourage fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea.

In particular, when boat owners catch a lot, they will call the Ward Farmers' Association to notify them. As soon as the boats dock, local leaders will come to the boat anchorage to present Emulation Flags to boat owners with good catches to encourage their spirit.
