Medical experts say that the strong scent of milk flower affects human health.
These days, along some streets in Hanoi, milk flowers are blooming white with a special fragrance.
However, medical experts say that the strong scent of milk flower affects human health.
Speaking to reporters, Doctor Vu Quoc Trung, Hanoi Oriental Medicine Association, said that milk flower is not a medicine in Oriental medicine. On the contrary, this flower contains some toxins that can be harmful to human health.

“Its biggest harm is its strong scent. If you smell it too much, some people will get allergies, causing coughs, asthma, and rashes,” said Traditional Medicine Practitioner Vu Quoc Trung.
In addition, the scent of milk flower has a strong smell, easily causing headaches, dizziness, nausea, and is not good for health, especially for the elderly, children, and people with allergies.
Some information says that milk flower has a bitter taste, cold properties, and has the properties of clearing heat, detoxifying, relieving pain, relieving asthma, relieving thirst, eliminating malaria (mosquito-borne fever), inducing sweating, and strengthening the stomach. Physician Vu Quoc Trung affirms that these are not true.
For people with diseases such as bronchitis, asthma, allergic rhinitis, seasonal rhinitis, if they inhale the scent of milk flower a lot, the disease will get worse, but normal people are less affected.
“The scent of milk flower is similar to that of some other flowers. It is okay to smell it occasionally, but if you inhale it frequently, especially in the case of people with nasal diseases, you will have allergies such as sneezing continuously, runny nose, and watery eyes. These people should not be exposed to the scent of milk flower for a long time.”
Dr. Nguyen Trung Cap, Head of the Emergency Department, Central Tropical Hospital, also said that if planted sparingly, milk flowers will give off a faint, pleasant fragrance. However, if planted densely in one area, the pollen will spread a lot and can cause allergies, triggering asthma attacks for people with sensitive skin.
Experts also say that milk flowers are beautiful. No one can deny that, but the strong, pungent smell that makes people dizzy should probably not be planted densely on the streets.
