A man devoted to a peaceful school gate and safe neighborhood
(Baonghean.vn) - Anyone who has the opportunity to visit a primary or secondary school in Quan Hanh town (Nghi Loc) after school hours will surely be impressed by the image of Mr. Vu Thanh Quang - Vice President of the Veterans Association of Residential Group No. 3, working hard to prevent traffic congestion in front of the school gate.
Contribute to eliminating traffic congestion "black spots"
Mr. Vu Thanh Quang (born in 1955), was a demobilized soldier who worked at Song Hieu Forestry and Agriculture Company (Nghia Dan). In 1992, he returned to Quan Hanh town (Nghi Loc) to start a business. In 2005, he joined the Veterans Association of Quan Hanh town. After that, the government and the Association trusted him and assigned him the important responsibility of Vice President of the Veterans Association of Residential Group No. 3.
As a first-class disabled veteran, when the weather changes and his health is not good, Mr. Quang is always active in his assigned tasks. In particular, he has many contributions to the movement "People protect national security", ensuring traffic safety and order in the locality. Notably, he advised the Veterans Association of Residential Group No. 3 to build and deploy the "Safe School Gate" model, which was recognized and highly appreciated by the Party Committee, government and people.

Previously, because the gates of the primary and secondary schools in Quan Hanh town were all located on the same road and only 100m apart, every time school was out, a large number of students and parents gathered, causing frequent traffic jams. Especially when the weather was unfavorable, everyone wanted to get home quickly, so vehicles jostled and intertwined, making the congestion worse.
Not only that, because there are many schools, people have taken advantage of both sides of the road to sell snacks, causing the road to narrow significantly... making anyone who has to travel through this area just shake their heads in dismay.
Faced with this situation, Mr. Vu Thanh Quang advised the government as well as the Veterans Association of Residential Group No. 3 on how to solve the traffic "black spots" in the area. Accordingly, every day of the week from 4-5 pm, the Veterans force of Residential Group No. 3 chaired by Mr. Quang was present in front of the gates of the primary and secondary schools in the area to ensure security and order. He and the members of the association participated in marking the roads, printing banners, placing no-parking signs on the sidewalks for pedestrians...
In addition, Mr. Quang and the members of the Veterans Association also divided the lanes and directly guided traffic for parents and students to go on the right side of the road. This activity has been maintained for 3 years now. Thanks to that, the chaotic situation after school has almost disappeared... This makes parents and students feel very secure and excited.
Mr. Tran Duc Nhan - Head of Residential Group No. 3, Quan Hanh Town said: "For the past 3 years, the neighborhood has recorded no more collisions occurring in front of the school gate during rush hour. We highly appreciate the safe school gate model that Mr. Vu Thanh Quang and the Veterans Association are implementing."
Join the fight against crime
Before 2015, Residential Group No. 3 was one of the notoriously complicated areas in Quan Hanh town. Theft, robbery, social evils, especially drug abuse and gambling, occurred quite frequently. The complicated security and order situation had a significant impact on the local socio-economic development.
Faced with that situation, Mr. Vu Thanh Quang and the members of the Veterans Association of Residential Group No. 3 are always struggling to find solutions to build a core force to suppress all types of crimes, while at the same time, promoting the strength of the entire political system, mobilizing the participation of the entire population in ensuring security and order. In particular, one of the first highlights is to coordinate the construction and successful implementation of the "3-room" model (Prevention and control of crimes among young people; prevention and control of crimes among students; prevention and control of crimes in residential areas and households).
Talking to us, Mr. Quang said: To effectively implement this model, the Veterans Association has coordinated with the Town Police to widely propagate to the people, youth, teenagers, and students in the area to effectively implement the contents of the 3 rooms. At the same time, coordinate with the local police to manage the youth, teenagers who hang around and play around to help them improve. During the period since the model was implemented, the residential area has significantly reduced the cases of theft and drug use; at the same time, educate and reform 13 youth, teenagers who violate the law in the residential area.
Not only that, from 2020 to present, the "Community Monitoring Team" model has also been maintained regularly by Mr. Vu Thanh Quang and 6 other members of the Party Committee, the Elderly Association, and the Veterans Association of Residential Group No. 3. The monitoring team regularly patrols and grasps the situation of hotspots where social evils often occur to promptly prevent and combat them. In 2022, the community monitoring team promptly detected and prevented traffic black spots in the area; provided 2 crime reports to the local police for handling.
In addition, Mr. Vu Thanh Quang is also an active member of the grassroots mediation team, contributing to building national solidarity. Whenever there is a conflict, Mr. Quang and the members of the mediation team are immediately present to find out the cause and together find a satisfactory solution, preserving the village and neighborhood relationship. For example, the land dispute between two neighboring families, Mr. Th. and Mr. D. The conflict occurred when Mr. Th.'s family built a house and argued with Mr. D.'s family over a piece of land 12m long and 20cm wide. Both Mr. Th. and Mr. D. said that the land belonged to their family.

Understanding the situation, Mr. Quang and the mediation team investigated the situation, went to each family to talk, grasp their thoughts and feelings. Then, they organized a mediation, inviting the entire commune land office to determine the ownership of the disputed land. When they learned that the land belonged to Mr. D.'s family and not his own, Mr. Th. went to apologize and reconcile. "Although the story originated from a small argument, if not resolved promptly, it could lead to long-term conflicts; causing loss of village and neighborhood affection, and loss of solidarity among the long-standing residential group. Therefore, we always try to resolve it right from the beginning in the direction of "clearly distinguishing right from wrong, complete reason and emotion...", Mr. Quang shared.
Mr. Vu Thanh Quang's contributions have been recognized by local authorities and all levels and sectors through many Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Merit. In particular, his family was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the People's Committee of Nghe An province for outstanding cultural families in the period of 2019 - 2021./.
