Motorcyclist commits suicide after being accused of causing multiple accidents

Being chased by people after driving across the street causing two cars to crash, the motorcyclist ran away and used a knife and scissors to cut his wrists and commit suicide.

The rare incident occurred at around 12:15 on September 5, on National Highway 5, passing through Bach Sam overpass, in Bach Sam commune, My Hao district, Hung Yen province.

Witness Truong Quang Trung said the motorbike was driven by a man in his 30s traveling from Hai Phong to Hanoi.

Approaching the overpass, the man suddenly changed lanes to the left to cross the road, causing the tractor-trailer behind to brake hard and swerve to avoid him. The braking caused the front of the tractor-trailer to spin sideways, and the rear of the vehicle to stop.

At that moment, a truck traveling in the same direction behind crashed into the rear of the tractor. According to witnesses, the front of the truck was severely damaged. The driver was seriously injured, his leg was crushed.

Seeing the truck driver injured in the cabin and many people reacting, thinking that he had crossed the street carelessly and caused the accident, the motorcyclist abandoned his vehicle and ran into a house by the roadside.

According to Mr. Trung, some passersby chased and beat the man on the motorbike, causing him to panic. "He grabbed a knife from a house and cut his hand, then used scissors to stab himself in the head repeatedly to prevent the crowd from approaching," witness Trung said.

When the Bach Sam commune police arrived, they approached and snatched the weapon from the victim’s hand. They then took him to the emergency room.

Witnesses said the floor of the house where the incident occurred was covered in blood. The commune police and many local residents had to work hard to keep the man from further injuring himself.

Mr. Trung shared that the intersection near Bach Sam overpass was caused by pedestrians breaking the median strip to cross the road. The broken railing is narrow and bumpy, so many accidents have happened.
