Housemaid went home for Tet, owner discovered billions missing
A woman reported to the police that her house was robbed of billions of dong and suspected that her maid was acting strangely when she went home for Tet.
The professional departments of Ho Chi Minh City Police are coordinating with District 2 Police to investigate and pursue a major property theft case at a villa located on Dang Huu Pho Street, Thao Dien Ward, District 2. The villa owner who reported the theft is a foreigner, Ms. LHK (born in 1957, Korean nationality, residing at the above address).
Ms. K reported to the police that recently the family's maid asked for leave to go home for Tet. Because she saw that the maid asked for leave unusually and was suspicious, Ms. K checked the house and discovered that a large amount of property was missing.
Specifically, according to Ms. K, the lost property was 200 thousand USD stored in a safe in her bedroom.
Upon receiving the report, the police examined the scene and took the statement of Ms. K. The villa owner said that the safe was in the bedroom so she left the key on top. It is worth mentioning that the safe contained gold jewelry but only the amount of foreign currency as mentioned above was lost.
Police noted that the safe showed no signs of being broken into. At the same time, other assets in the house were not disturbed.
The police are currently verifying the maid's background to further investigate the case.
