(Baonghean.vn) – At the foot of Pu-Thoong mountain in Noong De village (Nam Can commune, Ky Son), the Khmu people often mention Mr. Cut Bun Ma with pride. He is the pioneer who "reclaimed the land" and turned the barren land of Pu Thoong into a fertile farm of nearly 19 hectares in the middle of the forest.

Mr. Cut Bun Ma is 63 years old this year, but his working capacity has made many villagers admire him. From waking up when the sun has just risen above Noong stream until setting at the foot of Pu Thoong mountain, his first job is to find food for his family's more than 40 cows. This is the farm's biggest asset because each cow now holds a price of more than 25 million VND. |
He said that in 2004, when he and his wife decided to reclaim land to build a farm, they only had 4 cows, the result of the money they had saved from many trips to the forest. After 12 years of dedicated care and breeding, the family's herd of cows increased to the total herd it has today. During that time of eating and sleeping with them, he gradually became the family's "veterinarian" when he could vaccinate and treat these animals himself. |
Recently, his family has also sold more than 20 local goats. Although they have only been raised for nearly 3 years, they are suitable for human hands, grow quickly and are healthy. Up to now, he has sold more than 60 goats, some of which are adults weighing nearly 45 kg. With a selling price of 12.5 thousand VND/kg, it brings in tens of millions of VND for the family each batch. |
To have a water source for the farm, he boldly invested in a pipeline system to bring water from the self-flowing system on the mountain to irrigate nearly 6 hectares of corn, rice and 50 fruit trees to grow well. |
The nearly 100-meter water supply system was installed by him in nearly a month at a cost of tens of millions of dong. However, the land did not disappoint the people when each year from the area of corn, rice and fruit grown each crop yielded nearly ten tons. |
Not only developing the farm, he also took on the task of protecting and protecting nearly 9 hectares of forest. Thanks to his attachment to the land and the forest, his family no longer burned the forest to make fields but focused on investing and reclaiming land to develop their farm area. For the people of Noong De village in particular and Nam Can in general, he is a spiritual support to help them believe in their labor and the will to get rich on their own land. |
