Mother sells daughter less than 1 month old for 40 million VND

On November 22, Lieutenant Colonel Dau Anh Thang - Deputy Chief of Con Cuong District Police (Nghe An) said that 3 suspects are being detained for investigation of human trafficking. The victim is a 20-day-old baby girl. The person who sold the baby girl is her biological mother.

The three arrested subjects include: Cut Thi Tha (born in 1986), residing in Keo Pha Tu village, Bac Ly commune, Ky Son district; Ven Thi Xy (born in 1985) and Moong Van Thoai (born in 1980), both residing in Pha Khao village, Pha Danh commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province.

Previously, at 2:00 a.m. on November 18, 2018, Con Cuong District Police received information that Cut Thi Tha was carrying a newborn baby onto a passenger bus from Ky Son to Hanoi. During the trip, the subject showed many strange signs, the baby kept crying, Con Cuong District Police coordinated with Dien Chau Traffic Police Station under Nghe An Provincial Traffic Police Department to administratively inspect this passenger bus and asked Cut Thi Tha to come to the police headquarters for clarification.

At first, Tha was evasive, insisting that the girl was his biological child. Through investigation, Tha had to confess to his crime of selling the baby to a woman in Dien Chau district for 40 million VND so that they could take her to Hanoi.

Tha also confessed that he and the couple Ven Thi Xy and Moong Van Thoai had enticed the baby's mother, Ven Thi Luyen (born in 1993), to sell the baby for 40 million VND, of which 5 million VND was divided for Tha and 3 million VND for the couple Xy and Thoai. After Luyen agreed to sell the baby, Luyen and the others took the baby girl to Muong Xen town for testing at the buyer's request.

It is known that Ven Thi Luyen did not finish primary school, stayed home to help her parents with the farm, Luyen got married early and was pregnant many times but all her children died, this baby girl was sold after only 20 days of birth.

Currently, Con Cuong District Police have handed over the baby to the mother who is responsible for continuing to care for and raise the baby.
