Chicken feet dishes: Low in nutrition, high in danger

Associate Professor Nguyen Duy Thinh, Institute of Biotechnology and Food - Hanoi University of Science and Technology, affirmed that chicken feet are a food that does not provide much nutritional value but also poses many potential health risks.

Accordingly, chicken feet are exposed to a lot of dirty environments, with a high risk of infection, especially diseases related to the digestive tract. Eating chicken feet containing chemicals can cause acute or chronic poisoning. Acute poisoning is often seen as inflammation in the digestive system, stomach, intestines, and kidneys. Chronic poisoning can cause cell mutations leading to cancer, kidney failure, and liver failure.

In addition to the chicken being of unknown origin and contaminated, the grilling tools and the person marinating and grilling the chicken feet are also unsanitary, making this delicious, cheap dish even more scary.

Regarding the 9-month shelf life of chicken feet, Associate Professor Nguyen Duy Thinh said that if chicken feet are stored at the right temperature, they can last up to a year. However, the authorities need to check the origin, source, especially the preservatives in the bag of chicken feet; especially since there is water in it, if not stored properly and not according to standards, it will produce bacteria that cause spoilage and endanger the health of consumers.

Therefore, consumers should use foods such as chicken feet in appropriate amounts to avoid negative effects on the body, and at the same time choose clean, reputable foods. Do not use chicken feet of unknown origin or with strange signs.
