General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was the first Vietnamese leader to visit Fidel and sign the condolence book, followed by President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Other senior leaders such as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh and Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung were also present at the funeral this morning.

Hours before the Cuban Embassy opened, hundreds of former Vietnamese students in Cuba, members of the Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Cuba Association gathered in line in front of the embassy gate to prepare to pay their respects.
