Discussing this issue, Ms. Ho Thi Ha - Director of VNPT Business Center - Nghe An said that the switchboard 024.1083 is actually the communication system of VNPT.

"The information on social networks about the 024.1083 switchboard is incorrect. This switchboard is not capable of getting information from customers' mobile phones. It is only capable of making automatic calls. This switchboard only makes calls to customers, not from customers calling back to the switchboard (when customers call back, the line is always busy), so it is not capable of collecting fees from customers when they call back," Ms. Ha said, affirming that when receiving calls from 024.1083, customers do not incur any costs. Only if customers agree and register for packages according to the instructions from the switchboard, then customers must pay the package registration fee according to the network operator's regulations.

According to another representative of VNPT in Nghe An, this switchboard number is currently being piloted for automatic calling and automatic answering, so many customers are receiving calls from this number at the same time.

"In the past, when they had not received any notification from the corporation, even many VNPT employees did not dare to answer the phone when receiving calls from this number because they thought it was a scam," he said, adding that the corporation was working with the owner of the post on social media claiming that money was deducted from their bank account when receiving calls from this number.
