"People are fed up with neat and polished officials"

On the morning of March 28, discussing the term of the 13th National Assembly in the hall, delegate Le Nam (Thanh Hoa) compared the summary report of the 13th National Assembly term to a beautiful, somewhat romantic picture. However, after each time leaving the parliament, there are still many worries because of the debt to the people and the country.

Deputy Le Nam pointed out that in law-making, the role of the National Assembly and National Assembly deputies seems to be only at the final stage. Many expectations of the people, many concerns of life, much intelligence and enthusiasm have not been incorporated into the law. “That is the fundamental reason for the current situation of framework laws and pipe laws. There are many laws, but people are impatient and worried because of the disease of lawlessness and there is a part of society that still considers itself above the law.” – the Deputy stated.

The delegate cited: “During the Land Law drafting, many National Assembly delegates earnestly proposed that there should be a policy to regulate agricultural land allocation and to recognize private ownership of residential land, but it was not accepted. When supervising farmers abandoning and returning fields, we realized the long-standing saying, 'Delegates speak very well but accept it very poorly', so we would like to keep it as drafted.”

Delegate Le Nam also emphasized that many delegates, many Communist Party members and veteran revolutionaries earnestly requested that there should be a law on the activities of Party organizations in the conditions of a ruling Party and a rule-of-law State.

The delegate said that the people of the whole country are very interested in, following and supporting every step and action of the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Dinh La Thang. “Why is that? Because more than ever, the people crave innovation in the Party's leadership methods. The people are fed up with meticulous and polished cadres with the words "strengthen", "promote", "improve"”.

According to the delegate, the people and Party members need secretaries who are involved in life, secretaries who have enough power but also enough constraints on responsibility, publicity, transparency, and are guaranteed for them by law so that their sacrifices, creativity, and contributions can reach the people.

In deciding on important issues of the country and providing supreme supervision, the National Assembly has done a lot of work, some of which are very good, although in this report no one is praised nor criticized. However, the summary pictures of the term are in conflict with a Southwestern region that was once prosperous because of its gentleness, gradually fading into the past, a Central Highlands that was parched in mid-March, a political system that is unbearably cumbersome with corruption and bureaucracy, a debt-ridden treasury, Vietnamese youth that seem to be increasingly stunted, and the East Sea that has not stopped rippling.

The delegate suggested, "those concerns need to be expressed more fully in the summary of this term and even though it is only meaningful, we can hand it over to the next National Assembly."

Finally, borrowing the Prime Minister's words, the delegate "wished the 13th National Assembly delegates good health, happiness and always be kind people"./.
