A financial manager who stole £46,000 of school children's food money to spend on shopping and travel has been jailed.

The school in Openshaw where she worked discovered that £952 (more than 28 million VND) had disappeared from its bank account after a transaction in autumn 2016. The school later determined that £46,011 (about 1.3 billion VND) had "evaporated" between April 2012 and December 2016. This meant an annual deficit of around £10,000.

Robb started working at the school in April 2009, managing and accounting for the lunch money of more than 450 pupils. Det Con Laura Watson, of Greater Manchester Police, said Robb was initially seen as a reputable member of staff.

"She broke the school's trust and improved her finances illegally, which is unacceptable," he said.
