Many doctors and medical staff at Quynh Luu public hospital 'jumped' to work at private medical facilities.

On the afternoon of August 19, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation led by Comrade Thai Thi An Chung - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation had a supervision of medical examination and treatment work in the period of 2018-2022 at Quynh Luu District General Hospital.

In order to meet the needs of medical examination and treatment for people, in recent times, Quynh Luu District General Hospital has continuously improved the medical examination and treatment process, increased human resources and machinery, expanded reception facilities; applied information technology to outpatient medical examination and treatment activities, reducing waiting time for patients.

The hospital constantly applies and effectively promotes many new and advanced techniques in examination and treatment, well serving the increasing needs of medical examination and treatment of the people.

In the period of 2018 - 2022, the Hospital has applied many new techniques such as: Adenoidectomy surgery under endotracheal anesthesia; Laparoscopic Adenoidectomy; Colonoscopy; Laparoscopic inguinal hernia surgery; Pain relief during labor by epidural anesthesia; Endoscopic ureteral lithotripsy (pneumatic hammer, ultrasound, laser);... Therefore, the rate of patients being transferred to other facilities has decreased over the years.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ngoc - Deputy Head of the Medical Affairs Department (Department of Health), the difficulties of the unit are human resources, autonomy, and reduced costs. Quynh Luu District General Hospital is a grade II district hospital, so when connecting to the province, the unit encounters many difficulties; meanwhile, there are many medical examination and treatment facilities in the area. Therefore, the problem is that the unit must consider and improve technical expertise, improve the quality of medical examination and treatment to attract patients to come here for treatment.

At the meeting, the representative of the leader of Quynh Luu District General Hospital reported difficulties in the settlement of medical examination and treatment costs under health insurance. Specifically, in 2020, the hospital was refused payment of 3.8 billion VND due to exceeding the total payment amount.

Some legal documents related to drug quality management, decentralization, bidding and procurement are not appropriate. Through health insurance, local people can go to medical examination and treatment facilities of the same level in other localities.

"Private hospitals and clinics in the area are developing. Some staff are not confident in their work while private hospitals and clinics have many policies to attract staff to work at their units, leading to the situation of medical staff quitting their jobs to work at private hospitals, especially high-quality doctors.

"The main reason why staff of the unit quit their jobs, resign or transfer to non-public medical facilities is mainly due to income. Therefore, to retain this workforce, we must first increase the income of health sector staff," shared Dr. Nguyen Sy Thanh - Director of Quynh Luu District General Hospital.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Thai Thi An Chung - Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation assessed that the Hospital has a long tradition and achievements; in recent times, it has made many efforts to contribute to the health care work for people in the area.

He suggested that Quynh Luu District General Hospital continue to train highly qualified and specialized human resources; pay attention to attracting investment resources to purchase equipment for medical examination and treatment; and increase the application of information technology in medical examination, treatment and settlement.

The hospital needs to coordinate with the provincial Social Insurance to resolve difficulties and obstacles in the process of payment for medical examination and treatment under health insurance. Along with that, continue to pay attention to improving the material and spiritual life of the staff, workers and civil servants of the unit.
