Many students in Lang Son commune (Anh Son) have returned to school.
(Baonghean.vn) - On September 8, more than half of the students of Khai Lang Secondary School at Lang Son commune (Anh Son district) returned to school.
According to the report of Khai Lang Secondary School (Anh Son), on the morning of September 8, at the school in Lang Son commune, 82 out of 154 students in grades 6, 7, and 8 returned to school. Of these, 38 out of 51 students in grade 8; 24 out of 46 students in grade 7 and 20 out of 56 students in grade 6.
As for grade 9 students of Lang Son commune who go to school at the main school in Khai Son commune, as of the morning of September 8, only 3 out of 52 students have come to class. Thus, up to now, 121 students from grades 6 to 9 of Lang Son commune have not been able to go to school because their parents oppose the merger. Meanwhile, on September 7, at the Lang Son commune school, only 11 out of 154 students were allowed to go to class.

Mr. Le Dinh Ha - Principal of Khai Lang Secondary School said that despite the heavy rain, teachers and police were present at the school gate from early morning, and security was tightened. "Every time the students came by bike, we stood at the gate to welcome them, and no one stopped them from entering the school," said Mr. Ha.
However, when it was time to go to class, after the school bell rang, more than 50 people rushed into the school with the intention of dragging the students out, not allowing them to continue studying. Among them, there were people who did not have children studying at the school.
"When they saw that scene, the teachers immediately closed the classroom door. At the same time, the school and the police also prevented and asked people to leave the school grounds. Teaching and learning then continued as normal," Mr. Ha added.
On the same morning, Ms. Bui Thi Phuong - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee and leaders of a number of relevant departments and offices directly had a dialogue with hundreds of people at the Lang Son commune headquarters. At the dialogue, the district leaders directly answered many questions for the people about the project to merge Khai Lang Secondary School.

“We hope that parents will send their children to school soon. Difficulties and problems in merging schools will be considered and adjusted for the highest purpose of benefiting the children,” said Mr. Doan Van Thanh - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Anh Son district.
Also on September 8, a working delegation led by Mr. Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also went to Anh Son district to work on this issue. Accompanying them was Prof. Dr. Thai Van Thanh - Director of the Department of Education and Training. After working with the Standing Committee of Anh Son District Party Committee, the working delegation went directly to Lang Son commune to grasp the thoughts and aspirations of the people, and at the same time worked with the local leaders.
After listening to the report and directly inspecting the actual situation in the locality, the provincial leaders agreed with the plan proposed by Anh Son district to continue to let all grade 9 students study at the main school in Khai Son commune. Meanwhile, students of grades 6, 7, and 8 of Lang Son commune will still study at the satellite school in Lang Son commune. As for the people's recommendations, the district leaders will consider and resolve them in the coming time.
Previously, as Nghe An Newspaper has reported many times, the merger of Lang Son Secondary School and Khai Son Secondary School was implemented by the People's Committee of Anh Son district from the 2018-2019 school year, into Khai Lang Secondary School (located in Khai Son commune). The new school is more than 4 km away from the old Lang Son Secondary School. Currently, the project has been approved and implemented, but after 4 years of study, only grade 9 has transferred to the main Khai Lang Secondary School. Grades 6, 7, and 8 of Lang Son commune still study at the second facility.
According to the roadmap, at the beginning of this school year, all grades 6, 7, and 8 will be transferred to the new school. However, upon receiving the information, many households simultaneously sent letters of protest because they thought the distance was too far and the facilities were not guaranteed. Realizing that some people still did not agree, on July 15, the Standing Committee of Anh Son District Party Committee issued a notice on the decision not to merge the remaining grades of Lang Son school to Khai Son school in the 2022-2023 school year. However, many people were still dissatisfied, they continued to not send their children to school to put pressure, demanding the cancellation of the school merger project issued 4 years ago.
