Many Nghe An workers do not return to the South, but join factories near their homes.
(Baonghean.vn) - The wave of job losses in the South began before Tet. Many workers left the promised land, returned to their hometowns to find work and received quite good treatment from businesses near their homes.
No return to the South
Dinh Vang Company Limited specializes in manufacturing closed-toe leather shoes in Nam Dan town. Every year, after Tet, the company lacks workers and has to post recruitment notices but it is very difficult to find suitable people. However, this year, after Tet, the company has recruited nearly 100 workers, most of them aged between 22 and 40. These are all workers who have worked in garment and leather shoe making and have returned from the South.
Mr. Pham Xuan Hung - Deputy Head of Dinh Vang Company Limited's branch in Nghe An said: Since Tet, we have recruited many workers with an income of 7 - 10 million VND, most of them have worked in Binh Duong or the southern provinces. After being retrained, in a short time, most of these workers are paid high salaries because of their good skills.

According to Mr. Hung, recently, many workers who used to work in southern provinces such as Binh Duong and Dong Nai did not return to their old workplaces but instead found new jobs at companies near their homes. Not only Dinh Vang Company Limited but many other companies in Nam Dan district also benefited from this wave of returning workers.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Cuong, residing in Nam Dan town, returned from Binh Duong province and said: “Working as a garment worker in Binh Duong has an income of 9-10 million VND, but being far from home and having many expenses, the amount of money saved is not worth much. Moreover, there is no one to take care of my children and parents in the countryside, so after Tet, I decided not to return to Binh Duong but to find a job near home. Although the income is 1-2 million VND/month lower, it is still convenient in every way, being close to home and taking care of my elderly parents.”

Like Mr. Cuong, Ms. Thai Thi Duong (born in 1999) chose to work at a business near her home instead of returning to the South. Ms. Duong believes that this is the right choice when businesses in the South are currently facing difficulties. Where there is a stable job, the income is not high, the cost of living is expensive, where there is a good income and high benefits, now there are few orders, most workers have to take turns off, so the income is low...
Like Dinh Vang Company Limited, many companies such as Hanosimex Garment Company, Havina Company Limited, or Van An Company have recruited a lot of workers after Tet.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa - specialist of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Nam Dan district, each garment, leather shoe and jewelry production unit in Nam Dan district also recruits about 50 - 100 workers, most of whom have worked in provinces such as Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang...
Although the number of new recruitments of garment and footwear companies in the area has not met the needs of the units, by recruiting skilled workers, businesses have somewhat reduced the pressure on workers. The return of workers to their hometowns is a good sign because the income level of enterprises in their hometowns has improved, equal to the localities with high GDP levels in the country such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, etc.

Not only in Nam Dan district, Dien Chau district also recorded many workers who did not return to the South to work after Tet but stayed in their hometown to find new jobs. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, from Quynh Luu district, said that after Tet, instead of returning to the South, she went to a garment company in Dien Hong commune (Dien Chau) to work.
“My family has young children and elderly parents. For many years, we have been living far away, hoping to find a job with a high income to save for our future, but in the past two years, the income in Binh Duong has been quite low. I have also changed jobs at many companies, hoping to find a good place to work, but the salary I saved was not worth much. Now I have found a company near my home, and although the income is only about 5-7 million VND, it is about 3 million VND lower than in Binh Duong, but there is nothing better than being able to come home to eat and be close to my children and parents,” Ms. Huong confided.
According to data from the Provincial Employment Service Center, in Dien Chau district, there are 7 businesses recruiting workers. Notably, there are currently about 200 newly recruited workers, mainly workers from the southern provinces who returned home for Tet and did not return to their old companies.
Finding people
According to data from the Provincial Federation of Labor, in 2024, many large enterprises in the province will come into operation, the demand for labor will increase, expected to need more than 15,000 people. Currently, many enterprises in Nghe An have announced the recruitment of a large number of workers. Of which, Luxshare - ICT Nghe An Company is recruiting 1,000 workers; Woosin Vina Company Limited needs to recruit 200 workers; Premium Fasahion Company Limited is recruiting 500 workers; Nam Thuan Company (Dien Chau) needs to recruit 600 more workers; May USA Company (Nghi Loc) needs to recruit nearly 1,000 workers; MV3 Company Limited (Yen Thanh) needs to recruit 50 more workers.

In addition, garment enterprises in VSIP Industrial Park are in need of recruiting more than 2,000 workers but have only recruited a few hundred; electronic component manufacturing enterprises need nearly 2,000 skilled workers but have only recruited a few. In particular, workers who know Chinese and English are sought after with attractive salaries (about 20 million VND/month). For workers returning from the southern provinces, those with experience and high skills will receive quite good salaries.
Currently, the province has a large demand for labor recruitment, especially for skilled workers. With impressive investment attraction results, companies, factories, and enterprises continuously springing up in all localities in the province, the demand for labor recruitment of enterprises in Nghe An is very large. This is a good opportunity for workers in the province to have jobs in their homeland, not having to rush to the South and the North like before...Mr. Tran Huu Thuong - Deputy Director of Provincial Employment Service Center
