The subjects advertised luxury motorbikes for sale at cheap prices on Facebook pages to defraud and appropriate more than 10 billion VND.

On October 5, Duy Xuyen District Police (Quang Nam Province) announced that they had just busted and arrested 5 out-of-province suspects for fraud and property appropriation on the internet.

Previously, Duy Xuyen District Police detectives discovered activities with signs of fraud and property appropriation on the Internet. The subjects' method was to advertise expensive motorbikes for sale at cheap prices on Facebook pages to scam people.

On September 18, the functional forces of Duy Xuyen district coordinated with the Phong Dien district police (Thua Thien Hue province) to establish 4 working groups to simultaneously conduct searches and urgently arrest 4 subjects including: Tran Van Tuan (born 2001), Tran Quang Truong (born 2000), Ho Van Tu (born 1999) and Tran Phuc Quoc (born 2000), all residing in Thuong An 2 village (Phong An commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province).

Here, the investigation agency seized many computers, phones, bank accounts and objects and vehicles related to criminal activities...

At the Investigation Agency, the subjects initially confessed to their crimes, specifically from mid-2022 until now, the subjects created Facebook Fanpages, Zalo accounts named: "Vo Quynh Van", "Shop xe Hue", "Slon Hue" and then posted and ran ads with articles selling expensive motorbikes at cheap prices, home delivery... to attract social network users in need.

Next, the subjects asked the buyer to transfer many amounts of money such as application fees, license plate fees, shipping fees, etc. to appropriate the goods.

With the main trick of selling expensive motorbikes at cheap prices, these subjects have appropriated money from hundreds of victims across the country with a total amount of more than 10 billion VND.

Notably, through the fight, a new form of fraud was discovered in which the subjects created many Facebook and Zalo accounts to post recruitment of "pilots" to serve "ladies" with rewards, along with pictures of beautiful women and a commitment that if they "serve well", they will be rewarded with a large sum of money; then, they lured the victims to pay fees to appropriate such as: "pilot registration fee", "pilot card fee", "hotel booking fee"...

Currently, Duy Xuyen District Police have initiated two cases, prosecuted and issued an order to temporarily detain the above five defendants for the act of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" to continue investigating and clarifying.
