(Baonghean.vn) - In recent days, Thanh Chuong Charity Club has been organizing a rose sale to raise funds to help a young man whose leg was crushed while saving a 5-year-old boy in Hanoi.

Le Van Loc (18 years old) is from Thanh Tuong commune, Thanh Chuong district, and has just come to Hanoi to work. Around mid-November, while saving a 5-year-old boy who was playing near an elevator, Loc had his left leg crushed by the elevator. He has undergone 3 surgeries at Viet Duc Hospital, but his condition has not improved.

Due to difficult family circumstances, in order to have money for surgery for their child, Loc's parents sold all valuable assets in the house and borrowed money everywhere. Loc did not have insurance, and the hospital costs were expensive (hospital fees were nearly 1 million VND/day, blood costs were 2.7 million VND/day). After more than 3 weeks in the hospital, the treatment costs for Loc have now reached hundreds of millions of VND.

Understanding Loc's situation, Thanh Chuong Charity Club launched a program to sell persimmons to raise funds to help Loc's family have more money to treat their child. To carry out the plan, in recent days, the club's volunteers have gone to Nam Anh commune, Nam Dan district to directly buy persimmons, soak them, and proceed to sell and ship them to customers in the district.

The club's policy is to choose good persimmons and take them in batches, each batch is a few quintals, after soaking, sell out and take the next batch. After more than a week of implementation, receiving support from many people, the club has sold 6 quintals of soaked persimmons. The club plans to sell about 1 ton of persimmons, earning a profit of about 10 million VND. Up to this point, in addition to the profit from selling persimmons, the club has donated more than 17 million VND to support Loc's family.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Dieu - Vice President of Thanh Chuong Charity Club said that after the end of the rose selling activities, the money raised from the above activities will be directly given by the Club to Loc's family to contribute more funds for his treatment.

It is known that Thanh Chuong Charity Club, although newly established, has been operating quite effectively. In recent times, the Club has organized many meaningful charity programs such as "Healthy to go to school", "Tet for the poor", "Mid-Autumn Festival for children", "Happiness with the poor", "Joining hands to consume shallots for people in Tru Son commune", "Joining hands to consume green squash for people in Thanh Linh commune"... contributing significantly to helping people in difficult circumstances, students and poor people in and outside the district.
