Volunteer group builds flood-proof bridge in the poorest commune of Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) -Fromcoordination between local authorities and the volunteer group Faith, mThe dream of having a bridge for people has become a reality for the people of Huoi Pung village, Huu Khuong commune, Tuong Duong district, Nghe An.

Huu Khuong is one of the particularly difficult communes not only in Tuong Duong, Nghe An, but also in the whole country. Up to now (the poverty rate is 80.74%); the population consists of 606 households, 2,668 people, residing in 7 villages, so far there is no car road to the commune center. Almost all Huu Khuong villages are connected to each other and go to other places by river.

Huoi Pung is a village with 100% of the population being Khmu people because of the extremely difficult transportation. In particular, Huoi Pung stream divides Huoi Pung village into two parts, so the village is often isolated during the rainy season.

On sunny summer days, the Huoi Pung River flows gently, people can wade across to go to the fields, visit relatives, and students can go to school. However, during the rainy season, water from upstream flows down, the Huoi Pung River turns into a raging torrent that no one dares to cross. Huoi Pung village is completely cut off and isolated. Therefore, students cannot go to school.

Understanding the hardships of the Huoi Pung villagers, with the consent of the local government, the charity group Niem Tin has called on benefactors, some organizations and individuals to support, together with the People's Committee of Tuong Duong district, to build the bridge.

The bridge officially started construction on July 3, 2017. After 2 months of urgent efforts, the bridge in Pung village was completed on September 5, with a total value of 670 million VND, of which the Faith group called for and mobilized groups and individuals to support 430 million VND and 20 tons of cement.

On September 5, the day "All people take children to school", the Faith Bridge was officially completed and put into use in the immense joy of the people of Huoi Pung village.

Attending the inauguration ceremony of the bridge for people in Huoi Pung village named Niem Tin, there was a delegation of the province to open the new school year at Huu Khuong inter-school led by comrade Nguyen Van Thong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, along with representatives of some provincial departments and branches; leaders of Tuong Duong district, Huu Khuong commune; representatives of Niem Tin group; construction unit and a large number of people in Huoi Pung village.

At this solemn inauguration ceremony, Mr. Pham Trong Hoang - Secretary of Tuong Duong District Party Committee expressed his gratitude and acknowledged and highly appreciated the noble gesture of the Faith volunteer group, who worked with the district to help the people and students here have a dream bridge. In particular, it became even more meaningful when the bridge was completed and put into use on the opening day of the new school year, creating motivation, joy and excitement to go to school, an important event in the lives of the people of Pung village.

Also on this occasion, to encourage teachers and students of Huoi Pung Kindergarten, the Faith volunteer group donated 10 million VND to help renovate some items for the new school year.

The people's bridge across Huoi Pung stream has become a "bridge connecting happy shores" for the villagers.

Thus, in just a short time, the people of Huu Khuong commune happily welcomed two new bridges, Dan Tri bridge No. 13 inaugurated on September 1st in Co Phen village and Niem Tin bridge in Huoi Pung village inaugurated on September 5th.
