Unforgettable songs about the August Revolution

(Baonghean.vn) - Important historical milestone of the October Revolutionhauntand National Day 2-9 have become unforgettable memories in the minds of many Vietnamese people. Those sacred moments have also been preserved by many musicians in famous revolutionary songs.

1. Song "August 19" by musician Xuan Oanh



This song was composed by musician Xuan Oanh when he joined the crowd fighting for the victory of the August Revolution. In later stories, in harmony with the spirit of the people, musician Xuan Oanh wrote the song on old newspaper pieces as he walked. As he wrote, he sang loudly and the crowd sang along with him. By the afternoon, the song had been widely popularized.

Until now, the song "August 19" always resounds on every occasion the country celebrates the August Revolution and is one of the immortal songs marking the historical moment of the nation.

2. The song "Tien Quan Ca" (National Anthem) by musician Van Cao



Musician Van Cao wrote that song over many days in the attic at 45 Nguyen Thuong Hien in 1944. Musician Van Cao once said that the song title and lyrics “Tien Quan Ca” were a continuation of the previous song “Thang Long Hanh Khuc Ca”.

Since its inception, the song has been considered the official song of the Viet Minh Front. After the August Revolution, this song was chosen as the national anthem of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and when the country was unified (1975), the song "Tien Quan Ca" continued to be chosen as the national anthem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.


When officially chosen as the national anthem, the lyrics of the National Anthem were also modified in some places compared to the original "Tien Quan Ca" by Van Cao.

3. “On the Road” and “Call of Youth” by musician Luu Huu Phuoc



Among the songs that resounded during the historic August days, we must mention two marches by musician Luu Huu Phuoc, which are “Lean Dang” and “Tieng Goi Thanh Nien”. The songs were like an urging, boiling words for the youth generation at that time and until today these two songs are still immortal songs for Vietnamese youth and students. The song “Lean Dang” became the official song of the Vietnam Youth Union.

4. Song "Let's go together, Red Army" by musician Hoang Van

On the morning of August 19, 1945, a group of people from all directions came to the Opera House Square, singing the revolutionary march Together We Go Red Soldiers. The march seemed to recall the glorious past of the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement: "Together We Go Red Soldiers/ As one we march/ Don't let the enemy escape/ We are determined to sacrifice". This march that has accompanied the years was recreated by musician Hoang Van in the form of a choir in the fall of 1960 on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day in a choir called Remembrance.
