Pioneering party members get rich in the border village of Cao Veu

(Baonghean.vn) - Cao Veu village, Phuc Son commune, Anh Son district (Nghe An) is one of the border villages still facing many difficulties. In recent years, the work of hunger eradication, poverty reduction, economic development, and improving people's living standards has been identified by the Party Committee and government as a regular key political task.

10 years ago, with more than 7 km of border adjacent to Laos, the whole Veu Lon village had 389 households with more than 1,300 people, of which over 50% were poor and near-poor households.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Binh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Phuc Son commune said: "Determining economic development and poverty reduction is the key task. In recent years, the Party Committee has issued resolutions and topics focusing on developing commodity livestock farming and planting raw material forests associated with land and forest allocation. During the implementation process, 18 party members operating in 4 party cells: Cao Veu 1, Cao Veu 2, Cao Veu 3, Cao Veu 4 were identified to play a pioneering and exemplary role."

The model of raising livestock, growing oranges and developing forests with an income of 100 million VND per year of party member Nguyen Van Chau.

Cao Veu 1 currently has 89 households with 320 people but only 6 party members. The small number of party members is also a big difficulty in mobilizing people to develop the economy.

To effectively implement the resolution of the commune party congress, the party cell has sent party members to regularly visit households, closely follow the area to propagate and mobilize people to change crop and livestock farming methods, and apply science and technology to production.

Along with that, effectively implement programs 134, 135; National poverty reduction target program.

Up to now, the whole village has 10 households with economic models that bring in a good income of 50-70 million VND, even some models bring in hundreds of millions of VND such as the orange commodity model of party member Nguyen Van Chau. Especially in 2016, the Party cell mobilized people in the village to plant 70 hectares of forest.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Binh - Party Secretary of Phuc Son commune added: "The economic development in the Cao Veu villages creates favorable momentum for Phuc Son commune to implement the new rural construction program. With the spirit of "The State and the people work together", ensuring democracy at the grassroots level; up to now, the commune has achieved 9/19 new rural criteria. Average income per capita reaches 22 million/person/year. The poverty rate decreases by 2-3% each year."..

Asphalt roads lead all the way to Cao Veu village, creating favorable conditions for travel, trade, and economic development of the local people.

With a stable economy, the people of Veu village pay more attention to their children's education. The spacious schools and classrooms, and the students' enthusiasm to go to school are clear evidence of this. Security and order in the area are always maintained, with no outstanding incidents of rural security.

Cao Veu village, Phuc Son commune is also one of the bright spots in the movement of patrolling and protecting border lines and landmarks; contributing to firmly protecting the national border sovereignty.

The improvements in Cao Veu village show that the policies have been put into practice. This is the foundation for the highland border village to continue turning difficulties into development opportunities, creating new momentum in the work of hunger eradication, poverty reduction and economic development.
