Khe O resettlement area was built more than 15 years ago in 2004-2005 to serve the resettlement of people when building Ban Ve Hydropower Plant. At that time, building a solid house cost a lot of money, especially in mountainous areas where it was very difficult to transport raw materials. In the photo, the entrance to the resettlement area only has a faint line of electric poles behind wild bushes. Photo: Tien Hung |

In the early days of construction, because they were resettled near their old homes, people were very excited. However, after a while, due to landslides, households moved to other places. Currently, there are houses that only have frames left because the tiled roofs and door systems have been removed. Photo: Tien Dong |

This resettlement area was built to serve 37 households, however, 34 households have now moved elsewhere. The 2-storey house was solidly built but left abandoned, which is a waste. Photo: Tien Hung |

Because no one lives there, the door system has been removed, leaving only the cold, empty house. Photo: Tien Hung |

Mr. Vi Trong An - owner of house number 1 said that in 2005, although the house was built properly, due to landslides, the people were so scared that they had to leave this resettlement area to build houses elsewhere. Currently, they are still nominally residents of the resettlement area but have scattered everywhere. Photo: Tien Dong |

Currently, the landslides in this resettlement area have not happened anymore, but the people have no intention of returning. According to Mr. Vi Thanh Tung - Chairman of Yen Na Commune People's Committee, although the households have moved elsewhere, the land is still under their management and use, and the administrative management belongs to Ve village. It is known that each household here is given an average of 250m2 of residential land and garden land, but because they have moved elsewhere, no one takes care of the gardens. Photo: Tien Hung |
