Simon O'Kane, who lives in Wakefield, Yorkshire, decided to put his wife Leandra up for sale on auction site eBay to tease her, because he felt she was not devoted to him, according to Metro.
He posted a photo of his wife with her hands on her hips and advertised: "Used", and listed the pros and cons. The pros were "beautiful", "good at cooking"; the cons were "talkative". Finally, Simon captioned: "No returns after purchase".
Simon said he posted the ad online on the evening of September 7, after becoming tired of Leandra's lack of sympathy.
"I came home from work feeling exhausted, but my wife didn't care. So I decided to sell her," Simon said.
The auction amounted to $87,000 but was discovered and removed by eBay after two days.
Leandra, 27, learned her husband was auctioning her off after a colleague spotted the listing online.
"I was so angry, I wanted to kill him," she said. "Everyone at work saw it and laughed. Not only was he selling me, but he also posted a very unsightly photo."
"He kept complaining about being tired, but he went to the gym to work out for 3-4 hours. I told him that if he was strong enough to go to the gym, then I didn't need to care anymore."
Leandra later calmed down and thought it was quite funny. Simon explained that he was a prankster, and often played pranks on his wife.
"I really had no intention of letting anyone take her away. She was a wonderful wife."
