(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, hundreds of households in Dong Van commune (Tan Ky) still do not have access to the national grid, despite many requests for the Electricity sector to invest in and upgrade the power source.

For more than 10 years, people in Tan Binh and Dong Lau hamlets (Dong Van commune, Tan Ky district) have had to pull the grid power themselves to use. Mr. Nguyen Kim Hoang (Dong Lau hamlet) indignantly said: "The entire hamlet has nearly 50 households but the government has not invested in any electricity projects, forcing us to use bamboo poles and meter poles as power poles. The rudimentary electrical system, with tangled wires, is very dangerous, but we still have to accept it to have electricity because the distance from the transformer station to people's houses is too far." The electric wire that residents of Tan Binh hamlet pulled themselves and got stuck in a tree is very dangerous, it can short circuit or explode at any time. Photo: Phuong Thuy |

Many neighboring hamlets have had national grid electricity for a long time, but in Tan Binh hamlet, people have to use makeshift, patched-up electric poles and crude wires to bring electricity to their homes. Photo: Phuong Thuy |

Electric poles and wires are used as fences for each family in Dong Lau hamlet, causing many people passing by to fear electrical short circuits, especially during the rainy season. Photo: Phuong Thuy |

Mr. Lang Van Huan, a resident of Tan Binh hamlet, said: "Because the power transmission line is too far away, the farthest place is 3 - 4km. Therefore, on average, each household spends about 7 - 10 million VND on wires to pull electricity. Those who do not have the conditions have to live without electricity." Photo: Phuong Thuy |

Some households pull the power lines too low, which is very dangerous for children or people on the street who accidentally get caught in them. Photo: Phuong Thuy |

Because the transmission line is too far away and many households use the same line, the electricity is very weak at peak times, and many households here cannot use electricity. Therefore, many families have to use batteries to light up their homes. Photo: Phuong Thuy |

In addition, some households use their motorbikes to connect to the battery to generate electricity for household use. Photo: Phuong Thuy |

In addition to some hamlets without electricity, in Tan Dien hamlet, Dong Van, the electric pole is located right in the middle of the road, seriously affecting traffic safety. Mr. Phan Duc Quang - Chairman of Dong Van Commune People's Committee said: "The commune currently has 12 transformer stations, but due to complex terrain, some residential areas such as Tan Binh, Dong Lau... do not have electricity, forcing people to bring electricity themselves. People have repeatedly requested the Electricity Department to invest and upgrade the power source, but it has not been met yet."Photo: Phuong Thuy |
