Thanh Chuong farmers grow dozens of hectares of raw mint

According to the plan, Thanh Tien commune will build an essential oil processing factory in Con Am area with an area of about 40 hectares owned by a large enterprise headquartered in Vinh City. Before the factory was established, this company rented 10 hectares of land from local farmers to grow mint for seeds.

After more than 1 week of implementing the plan, many local fields have been covered with mint. This is a mint variety with high content ofessential oilThe plant is brought from the northern provinces and can be harvested after 3 months of planting.
Mr. Duong Le Minh - Vice Chairman of Thanh Tien Commune People's Committee said that in the short term, this company will plant mint for breeding. After having the seeds, it is expected to plant an additional 46 hectares of the group's land and 110 hectares of local land. In addition, people from surrounding communes are also encouraged to plant mint to supply the factory. The expected area of planting medicinal plants including mint, coriander... to serve the factory's operations is about 500 hectares.

When the factory is put into operation, it will employ hundreds of workers, creating jobs for many workers inside and outside the commune. Currently, workers from households that give land to the company are hired to plant mint with a daily wage of 150,000 VND.
