Fined 10 million VND for spreading news about 'people wearing blackface'
Nguyen Van Long (31 years old, Thach Thanh district) was fined 10 million VND for spreading information on Facebook that a "black-faced beggar" was present in Kim Tan commune.
The decision to impose administrative sanctions was made by the Thach Thanh District Police on December 16, based on Clause 1, Article 8 (Law on Cyber Security 2018) and Clause 3, Article 64, Decree 179/2013/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations in the fields of post and telecommunications, information technology and radio frequencies.

Police determined that at about 5:40 p.m. on December 6, on Facebook pageNguyen Thien Longpost an article with the following content:"Black Faces, the 25k disc has arrived at Kim Tan, everyone be careful, my nephew will upload the video for everyone to see later".
About an hour later, Long posted a video of a man with a black face begging for money, which attracted tens of thousands of views, shares and comments.
Summoned by the police, Long admitted to posting false information. The video was downloaded from the internet, unknown where, with the purpose of "getting likes". Long has now paid the fine and made a correction on his personal Facebook.
