Mai Hung (Elo 2199) was not highly rated in the blitz chess category because she was only the 14th seed (based on Elo coefficient) before the start of the match. However, the Vietnamese girl played very impressively. After the first 8 games, Mai Hung scored 6.5 points and created a gap of half a point compared to the following opponents.
In the final game, Mai Hung defeated his compatriot Vo Thi Kim Phung to win the championship with 7.5 points (7 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss) after 9 games. This was an unexpected success for Mai Hung.
But unfortunately, player Le Quang Liem only won the second place in the men's group with 7 points after 9 games, although with Elo 2805, he is of a higher level than the other players in the tournament. After 8 games, Quang Liem is 0.5 points ahead of two fierce rivals, Vakhidov Jahongir (Uzbekistan, Elo 2529) and Lu Shanglei (China, Elo 2724).
However, in the final game, Quang Liem lost to his Chinese opponent Lu Shanglei. This result also helped Lu Shanglei win the championship with 7.5 points after 9 games.
