Female student going to invigilate exam was killed by taxi driver, body dumped to hide evidence

(Baonghean.vn)- After finishing the 2016 national high school graduation exam, Ms. Oanh took a taxi to go to church in Ha Tinh, but was killed by the driver and her body was thrown into the river to hide the evidence.

On the afternoon of July 5, Ha Tinh City Police (Ha Tinh) announced that they were temporarily detaining Nguyen Van Tien (26 years old, residing in Thach Linh ward, Ha Tinh city) to investigate the crime of murder.

According to the investigation agency, on July 4, the unit received information from the National High School Examination Council of Ha Tinh University about the disappearance of invigilator Pham Thi Oanh (23 years old, residing in Ha Nam), currently a student at Hue University, who was assigned to work as an invigilator.

Suspecting a murder, the police began an investigation. Hours later, Tien was identified as a suspect and was arrested while hiding in Ha Tinh City. He was a driver for a taxi company in Ha Tinh Province.

According to initial statements at the investigation agency, on the evening of July 3, Tien drove the female supervisor from Thach Ha commune to Ha Tinh city to attend a church service. After the church service, on the way back, he stopped the car, strangled the female supervisor, and robbed her of a handbag, cell phone, and 250,000 VND in cash. When Ms. Oanh died, Tien drove the female supervisor's body to Su bridge (block 1, Cay town, Ha Tinh) to dispose of the body.

From Tien's testimony, Ha Tinh Provincial Police arrived at the scene and discovered the victim's body as suspect Tien had reported.

According to the victim’s family, Oanh is currently a fourth-year student in the Preschool Department of Hue University of Education. Oanh was sent to Ha Tinh to supervise the 2016 National High School Graduation Exam with teachers at Hue University.
