Angry that his wife was often scolded by his stepfather, after drinking, Doan Nhat Truong came home, took a knife, ran to his wife's stepfather's house in the middle of the night, knocked on the door, and stabbed him twice, seriously injuring his stepfather.

The An Giang Provincial Police Department is completing the case file to change the charge from “intentionally causing injury” to “murder” for Doan Nhat Truong, 32 years old, residing in Tri Ton town, Tri Ton district.

According to the initial investigation results, after drinking until about 11pm on May 18, on the way home, Truong remembered that Mr. Le Van Hai (Truong's stepfather in law) often scolded his wife, so Truong went to the back of the kitchen to get a Thai knife and went to stab Mr. Hai, but was discovered and stopped by his wife. A while later, Truong took his motorbike to Mr. Hai's house and saw that everyone had closed the door and gone to sleep. Truong knocked on the door.

Hearing her son-in-law's cry, Mrs. Phuong (Mr. Hai's wife) opened the door. Truong took a knife and walked towards Mr. Hai's bed. Mr. Hai had just stepped out to hit Truong when Truong rushed in and stabbed him twice in the stomach and left chest, causing the knife to break. Truong ran away. Mr. Hai chased after him for a while but stopped due to heavy bleeding and was taken to the emergency room by local people in time, so his life was not in danger.

As for Truong, he had just run home for a while when he was arrested by the police. The case is currently under further investigation.
