Security preparations for the US president's trips abroad are always extensive, especially with US President Donald Trump's upcoming visit to Vietnam to attend APEC Da Nang, information about the secret service team accompanying him is always of interest to the press.

Tổng thống Trump và Đệ nhất phu nhân Melania Trump lên máy bay Air Force One, bắt đầu chuyến công du Hà Lan và Đức. Máy bay khởi hành từ Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, 5.7.2017.
President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump board Air Force One, beginning a trip to the Netherlands and Germany. The plane departs from Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, July 5, 2017.

It is currently unclear how many secret agents will accompany US President Donald Trump's delegation to Vietnam this time, however, according to US practice, thousands of people are mobilized each time the president travels.

According to USA Today in August, more than 1,000 US Secret Service agents are facing increased pressure to work overtime to protect members of the President's extended family. Unlike previous presidents, President Trump has a large family with many members who need protection. The Secret Service is also tasked with protecting Trump Tower, the President's permanent residence. Melania and her son remained there for months after Trump took office, Manhattan, New York, August 4, 2017.

Under Mr Trump, the Secret Service has to protect 42 people, including 18 members of his family, compared to only 31 people under President Barack Obama.

According to Mr. Jeffrey Robinson, co-author of the book "Standing Next to History: An Agent's Life Inside the Secret Service" about the lives of secret service agents protecting the US president, agents and White House staff often go to the location that the US president visits three months in advance to scout and connect with local security forces.

They have a lot of work to do, such as ensuring that the airspace at the airport is clear when the presidential plane lands, requesting the formation of a motorcade, locating hospitals, and finding safe havens in case the president is attacked.

According to Robinson, Air Force One will be accompanied by at least six other aircraft. Some of these planes carry necessary equipment such as helicopters, limousines, communication equipment... Other planes carry hundreds of agents and staff serving the president.

Mật vụ Mỹ luôn kề sát bên Tổng thống Mỹ mỗi khi ông di chuyển.
The US Secret Service is always close to the US President whenever he moves.

Robinson revealed that the Secret Service will set up a three-layer security perimeter around the president. Police will guard the outermost ring, Secret Service agents will be in the middle layer, and finally, agents from the Presidential Protective Unit will guard the innermost layer, closest to the president.

When President Barack Obama flew to Africa in 2013, hundreds of Secret Service agents were sent to secure facilities; a Navy ship with a medical trauma center was stationed offshore; and military cargo planes were transported by 56 support vehicles, including 14 limousines.

In 2016, when Mr. Obama visited Vietnam, there were many secret agents following him to protect him from the inside, the outside, from above, from afar, in plain clothes..., becoming the President's "barrier", using all methods and tactics to ensure maximum safety.
