Former US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump had a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to seek a solution to end the conflict.

According to RIA Novosti on July 20, former US President and Republican candidate Donald Trump wrote on his social networking site Truth Social about his phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Mr. Trump said the conversation was “very good”.
“President Zelensky and I had a very pleasant phone call. He congratulated me on the results of the Republican National Convention and on officially becoming the Republican nominee for president,” Donald Trump wrote on the Truth Social page.
According to the former US President, if re-elected next November, he will "bring peace and end war".
“Both sides can come together and negotiate a deal that ends the violence and opens the way to prosperity,” Mr. Trump promised.
Meanwhile, writing on social network X, Ukrainian President Zelensky said he had agreed with Mr. Trump on a personal meeting in the future to discuss concrete steps for peace.
Previously, Mr. Trump also made statements that, if elected, he would end all international conflicts in the world that the current administration of President Joe Biden has created, including the conflict in Ukraine.
During the first debate on June 27, the Republican candidate pledged that he would reach a solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict before he could be re-elected and sworn in as president on January 20, 2025. At the same time, Mr. Trump emphasized that the conflict in Ukraine “would never happen” if he were president.
