Mr. Trump invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend the inauguration ceremony.
US President-elect Donald Trump has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend his inauguration in January 2025.

According to RIA Novosti on December 12, CBS News quoted sources as saying that US President-elect Donald Trump has sent an invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend his inauguration ceremony on January 20, 2025.
“President-elect Donald Trump has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to attend his inauguration next month,” the channel said in a statement.
It is understood that the president-elect's inauguration team plans to invite other foreign guests to attend his swearing-in ceremony. In particular, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban may also attend the event.
This move by Mr. Trump’s team is somewhat surprising, in the context of Mr. Trump criticizing China’s economic policies and threatening to impose new tariffs on goods from China. Mr. Donald Trump’s previous presidency was marked by a “trade war” with China.
In addition, after being elected, Mr. Trump also threatened to impose 100% trade tariffs on all BRICS countries (of which China is a member) if they did not abandon their plan to create an alternative currency to the US dollar.
Earlier, on December 10, Chinese President Xi Jinping held a “1+10” meeting with the heads of 10 international economic organizations. At the event, the Chinese leader said Beijing is willing to maintain dialogue with the US government, expand cooperation, manage differences and promote the sustainable, stable and healthy development of China-US relations.
