The preliminary report on the implementation of Resolution No. 05 - NQ/TU on tourism development in Nghe An in the period of 2011 - 2020 clearly shows that in the past 5 years, the province's tourism activities have maintained a fairly stable growth rate, most of the targets have met the set plan. The average growth rate of the number of overnight guests reached 6.7% per year, of which international visitors reached over 64 thousand arrivals.

In the first 10 months of 2015, the total number of visitors reached 3.36 million, equal to 105% compared to the same period in 2014; the whole year is estimated to reach over 3.6 million. In the period 2011 - 2014, the average growth in tourism service revenue reached 22.5%/year. The estimate for 2015 is 2.5 trillion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism approved the draft report summarizing 5 years of implementing the Resolution on tourism development in Nghe An in the period of 2011 - 2020.

There are many new planned tourist areas and destinations put into operation such as: Lan Chau - Song Ngu Ecotourism Complex (Cua Lo), Lam River ecotourism area associated with mangrove forests, Ru Gam ecotourism area... Infrastructure and facilities serving tourism have developed strongly. Specifically, from 2011 to now, the province has had 275 more hotels and motels, bringing the total number of accommodation establishments in the area to 730.

Tourist accommodation services are invested in and innovated, and their quality is increasingly improved. Linking and cooperating activities to exploit and develop tourist routes; tourism promotion activities are promoted. In addition, the management of tourism resources and environment, ensuring security and order are strengthened. Human resources are increasingly focused on development.

In addition to the achieved results, the report also pointed out the shortcomings and limitations in the development of tourism in Nghe An in the past 5 years; at the same time, it proposed goals and solutions for the coming time. Accordingly, by 2020, Nghe An strives to become one of the tourist centers of the North Central region and one of the key tourism centers of the whole country.

The target set by 2020 is for Nghe An tourism industry to welcome 5 million tourists, with revenue reaching about 5 trillion VND, an average increase of 17-18%/year, attracting and creating jobs for over 30,000 workers.

Representatives of the Department of Industry and Trade gave comments on solutions to combine tourism and trade to promote tourism development in the coming time.

After listening to the preliminary report on tourism development in Nghe An in the period of 2011 - 2020, representatives of relevant departments and branches gave comments and additions, focusing on the following contents: solutions for tourism development in the period of 2016 - 2020 need to focus on bringing the special folk songs of Vi and Giam associated with tourism development; building unique and attractive tourism products of the province; developing spiritual tourism, promoting the development of eco-tourism in the Western region of Nghe An associated with preserving the beauty of ethnic culture; community tourism associated with craft villages.
