Spreading rumors about 'rubber rice' fined 10 million VND
For spreading false news about buying rubber rice at a rice warehouse, Facebook account owner Thien Hang Thien Bao was fined 10 million VND.
On the afternoon of January 2, Chief Inspector of the Department of Information and Communications of Ca Mau province, Nguyen Cong On, signed a decision to administratively sanction Ms. Vo Thuy Hang (23 years old, from Cai Nuoc district, Ca Mau), for "providing false information".
Mrs. Hang isFacebook account owner named "Thien Hang Thien Bao".
Specifically, on December 19, 2017, on the above Facebook account managed by Ms. Hang, the news "rubber rice purchased at Cuong rice warehouse, Cai Nuoc market" was posted.
The above clip has received great attention from the online community, thousands of likes and shares, along with many comments of concern about the quality of rice on the market today.
From this news, the authorities of Ca Mau province immediately tested rice samples at the rice shop that Ms. Hang mentioned. However, the test samples all showed no rubber in the rice.
In the penalty decision, the Chief Inspector of the Department of Information and Communications of Ca Mau province said: "False information has caused public confusion, affecting the socio-economic development of the locality."
That is why this agency fined Ms. Hang 10 million VND.
Currently, Ms. Hang has removed the fake rice information from her personal Facebook.
