Mr. Hung said that the police can extract all text messages sent and received from his phone number from 2014 to now (the time that the rumor implicitly mentioned), to investigate whether he had a "mistress" or violated work management principles.
The conference noted that rumors about Mr. Hung were spreading rapidly, causing public panic and seriously affecting the reputation of the individual and the leadership of Thanh Hoa province. Rumors about Mr. Do Trong Hung's personal life began to spread on March 19 from a Facebook account namedSon ThaiThis account posted many hot pictures of a young girl named Trang, next to a picture of Mr. Hung and screenshots of text messages exchanged between the two.The content of the message mentioned the private matters of many provincial leaders.NicknameSon Thaiclaimed to be the husband of the girl in the picture.

On the afternoon of March 20, Ms. Le Thi Trang (26 years old, makeup artist of Thanh Hoa Radio and Television Station) - the person believed to be the "mistress" of the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - sent a petition to the police agency to verify the person who spread false information, insulting her honor and personal reputation.
Ms. Trang said that she was blatantly "made up and slandered" and affirmed that she had never met Mr. Hung before, only knowing about him through mass media.She said she had a lover and had never been married, so she could not be the wife of someone namedSon Thai.
