Disseminating experiences in diversifying livelihoods based on heritage tourism in Nghe An
(Baonghean.vn) - Diversifying livelihood methods through improving community capacity in heritage tourism is being implemented by JICA in Nam Dan and Con Cuong districts.

From September 9-11, in Nghe An, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) organized a training program with the theme "Community tourism development" in the project area "Diversifying livelihoods based on heritage tourism in agricultural and fishing villages".
Attending the training program were Mr. Kobayasshi Ryutaro - Deputy Chief Representative of JICA in Vietnam; lecturers from Hanoi National University, Yamanashi University (Japan), Vietnam Institute for Rural Industry Research and Development; delegates from Japan, Korea, international organizations, ministries, departments and provinces and cities across the country.

In Nam Dan district, the project will survey and evaluate historical and cultural relics and natural landscapes; survey and evaluate tourist routes on Lam River, craft villages and local specialty production facilities; build exhibition spaces to introduce and promote tourist destinations and local specialty products; consolidate and develop the model of the Hung Son Vi Giam Folk Song Club in Van Dien commune...

Similarly, in Con Cuong district, the Project has established groups for accommodation, cuisine, arts, and experiential sightseeing activities in Nua village; provided guidance on the establishment and machinery support for cooperatives producing orange products in Pha village, Yen Khe commune; and supported homestay service households in building toilets and bathrooms.
In the two districts, the project also trains people in culinary service skills, performance skills and staging of shows and skits; food safety and hygiene production processes; farming techniques and production of agricultural products according to VietGAP standards; and promotes tourism promotion.

Within the framework of the training program, delegates exchanged and communicated contents related to diversifying livelihoods based on heritage tourism; visited and experienced models in Nam Dan and Con Cuong districts./.
