Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu attended the 50th Anniversary of Vinh University High School for the Gifted
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of October 16, Vinh University High School for the Gifted solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the school's 50th anniversary.
Attending and sharing joy with generations of cadres, teachers and students of the school were comrade Uong Chu Luu - Member of the Party Central Committee - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Nguyen Thi Nghia - Deputy Minister of Education and Training.
On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades Nguyen Van Thong - Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Provincial Agencies; and representatives of a number of relevant departments, branches and sectors.

Vinh University High School for the Gifted, formerly a special Math class, was established in October 1966 under the Decision of the late Prime Minister Pham Van Dong. From a special Math class with 36 students, after half a century of development, the school has now trained nearly 8,000 high school graduates from 6 specialized systems.
Of these, 274 students are excellent at the national level, 13 students won international and Asia-Pacific Math and Physics prizes. Hundreds of former students of the school in many fields have successfully defended their doctoral theses, and have been awarded the titles of professor and associate professor. In addition, with the attention of ministries and branches, the facilities of Vinh University High School for the Gifted are increasingly invested in with modern equipment.

The school currently has 68 staff, including 8 PhDs, 4 postgraduates, the rest mostly have master's degrees. In recent years, the school's teaching staff, in addition to teaching duties, have had many scientific research works published in prestigious scientific journals at home and abroad.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu highly appreciated the efforts of the school's leadership, teachers and generations of teachers over the past 50 years. Promoting the tradition of studiousness of the heroic Soviet homeland, he hoped that in the coming time, the school would continue to strive to overcome difficulties and challenges, implementing the policy of comprehensive fundamental innovation in education to improve the quality and effectiveness of education and comprehensive education.
