According to CNN, Vice President Kamala Harris will have a few more important hours to work by phone, calling into afternoon radio shows in key battleground states.

Two people who spoke with her said Harris was “promising” and “optimistic,” adding: “She was on the phone all day.”

While Ms. Harris urged voters in Atlanta, Detroit and other cities to stop by the polls after hours if they hadn't already voted, her advisers inside the campaign room in Wilmington, Delaware, told CNN they were "watching impressive turnout" in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania — especially among women.

But that upbeat news did little to ease concerns among her aides that men were also turning out in large numbers, highlighting one of the biggest questions: How big will the gender gap be?

Vice President Harris also spent time preparing a speech, along with top aides, that she hopes to deliver at Yard of Howard University, the school she attended in Washington, DC.

According to CNN, it is uncertain whether Ms. Harris will present that speech on the evening of November 5 (Washington time), but in case the election results are known earlier than the election four years ago, Ms. Harris' speech will be ready.

A sense of optimism was evident throughout Harris's team, even as the vice president sent instructions that "the work will continue until the polls close" — and beyond, if the litigation becomes a focus of attention.

Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump plans to address thousands of supporters gathered at the Palm Beach Convention Center, a few miles from his Mar-a-Lago club, sometime on the evening of November 5 (Washington time), sources familiar with his plans told CNN, though when and whether that will actually happen remains unclear.

Mr Trump told reporters earlier that he was unsure of his plans and that no speech had been written. But sources said they expected him to speak regardless of whether the outcome was known or if it was known quickly.

Mr Trump has expressed frustration that a winner will not be declared on Election Day night. Most of his campaign advisers have warned that it is unlikely they will know the winner on the night because ballots are still being counted.
