Arson kills sister-in-law and niece
Nguyen Thi Hung, 50 years old, confessed that she was angry because of a conflict that had lasted for many years and used gasoline to set fire, killing her sister-in-law and 6-month-old niece.
On July 22, Vinh Yen City Police announced that they had prosecuted and detained Ms. Hung to investigate the crime of "Murder".
According to the investigation, since 2017, Ms. Hung and her husband's brother's wife had a long-standing conflict surrounding the gathering of the family's graves. On the afternoon of July 11, the suspect went to his sister-in-law's house to pick up his grandson and continued to argue, leading to the idea of killing and revenge.

At around 3pm on July 13, Hung rode his electric bike carrying a plastic bucket to a gas station in Dong Tam ward, Vinh Yen city, but was refused by the staff because it was unsafe. Hung returned home to get a can to buy about 5.7 liters of gasoline.
The suspect brought gasoline and a lighter to his sister-in-law's house. While arguing, Hung poured the gasoline into the living room and told his sister-in-law, "Today we will both die." The fire burned Hung's sister-in-law and her 6-month-old niece.
The girl died that same evening. On July 21, the sister-in-law died.
After causing the fire, Ms. Hung tried to get pesticide but was unsuccessful, so she drank dishwashing liquid and committed suicide. The suspect was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment due to poisoning from cleaning chemicals and a right hand injury from burns from burning gasoline.
