Noi Communal House (also known as Lac Long Quan Temple), Binh Da Village, Binh Minh Commune (Thanh Oai District - Hanoi), has just held a ceremony to welcome the decision to recognize as a National Treasure the statue (relief) carved with the image of Lac Long Quan and characters from the Hung King period, dating from the late 19th century to the early 20th century.
The carved statue of Lac Long Quan at Noi communal house is the only one in Hanoi and neighboring provinces in the northern region that reflects the national founder Lac Long Quan and the characters of the Hung King era. The statue is elaborately carved on a gilded wooden background, depicting the scene of Lac Long Quan and all the civil and military mandarins watching the boat racing festival. Lac Long Quan's portrait sits on the throne, wearing a crown, a kind and benevolent face, wearing a royal robe, with a majestic and imposing figure.
The layout of the characters arranged in layers, the appearance, clothing, and movements of the characters are lively and attractive, the delicately carved motifs and patterns represent the image of the National Ancestor Lac Long Quan - Au Co with 100 children, of which 50 children followed their mother to the sea to establish a hundred families, the ancestors of Bach Viet. Although over time, the relief still retains its ancient beauty.
With these special values, the Prime Minister has decided to recognize the statue (relief) carved with the image of Lac Long Quan and the characters of the Hung King period as a National Treasure. At the ceremony, the representative of the Department of Cultural Heritage - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the decision to the representative of the people's government of Binh Minh commune and Thanh Oai district.
Previously, in 2014, the people of Binh Da village, Binh Minh commune had another great honor when the festival of the National Ancestor Lac Long Quan temple (from March 4 to March 6 of the lunar calendar) in Binh Da was included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. This is an honor and pride for Thanh Oai district in general and Binh Da village in particular, and at the same time, it also sets the district and commune the responsibility to continue to make efforts to preserve, conserve and promote the values of the heritage.
