(Baonghean.vn) - This is the first year Nghe An allows candidates to change their wishes after completing the 10th grade entrance exam. However, even though the exam scores have been basically calculated, parents and students still face difficulties...

Previously, according to the instructions of the Department of Education and Training, candidates could change their admission wishes (NV1, NV2, NV3) toGrade 10High school after the exam but still don't know the exam results.

Specifically, the system will be opened for candidates to change their admission wishes to high schools, Vocational Education - Continuing Education Centers, and Continuing Education Centers within 4 days, from June 7 to June 10, 2023, so that candidates can change their wishes online but with the approval of the secondary school where the candidate studies.

Two days after completing the 10th grade entrance exam, the number of students coming to change their wishes at Hung Binh Secondary School (Vinh city) is increasing day by day.

A parent whose child is studying in grade 9 in Vinh City had registered her first choice at Thai Lao High School. On the morning of June 8, she decided to change her child's choice to Huynh Thuc Khang High School. Talking about this decision, she said: I gave my child 3 options, or keep the same choice and study at Thai Lao High School. Meanwhile, if she changed her choice to Huynh Thuc Khang High School, there might be a situation where she failed and she might have to go to a mountainous school to study according to NV2. However, my child still decided to transfer NV1 to Huynh Thuc Khang High School. Before that, after finishing the exam, my child scored about 25.26 points, so I respected my child's decision.

However, not everyone is as lucky as this candidate. Student Le Na and her sister went to Hung Binh Secondary School to change their application from Huynh Thuc Khang High School to Ha Huy Tap High School after nearly 2 days of thinking. This was a difficult decision, but it was a solution to increase the chance of admission. Talking about this, student Le Na said: I predict that I will get 24 points, the threshold score is almost equal to last year's admission score of Huynh Thuc Khang High School. However, I asked many friends and saw that this year, many students did well. I thought that the chance of being admitted to a public school was not much, so I chose the sure solution.

According to teacher Le Viet Hong - Vice Principal of Hung Binh Secondary School: Since June 7, our school has been working to get students to change their preferences. But on the first day, most of them just came to grasp the situation. Since this morning, parents and students have just come to change their preferences for their children. The number of students transferring from schools with low admission scores to schools with high admission scores is not much. Most of the students changing their preferences are those with moderate admission scores and they will transfer their preferences to schools with lower expected admission scores.

Truong Thi Secondary School, in the past 2 days, also had nearly 20 candidates come to change their wishes. Among them, there were 2 cases that were expected to get 24, 25 points but still asked to transfer from Huynh Thuc Khang High School to Le Viet Thuat High School, because they hoped to be admitted to the school's selective class later. The rest, because their test scores were not good, many students asked to change their wishes from public schools in Vinh city to district schools.

The number of students in my class who have changed their wishes so far is about 4 and before making this decision, I have discussed thoroughly with parents and teachers. Consulting is very difficult but there are 2 bases for us to share with parents, first is the results of the students' work, second is comparing the benchmark scores in previous years.

In my opinion, this year the students did better on the test, but many of them are worried that the benchmark score will increase. Changing their preferences is also very difficult, because there are not many public schools with NV2. If they do not have the opportunity to be admitted to public schools in Vinh City, they will be forced to choose schools in the district. Studying and traveling will be very difficult.

After 2 days of changing wishes, teacher Tang Hien - Principal of Truong Thi Secondary School said: The fact that students will change their wishes is something that the school has predicted.

In addition to arranging leaders and admissions staff to provide technical support to candidates, we also require homeroom teachers of all classes to come and directly advise parents and students. All solutions are aimed at helping students increase their chances of being admitted to public schools that match their abilities and test scores.

Changing your wishes after the exam is a positive change by the Nghe An Education Department to increase the chances of admission for candidates. However, in the first 2 days of implementation, many parents and students still have many concerns when making a decision. This partly comes from the fact that the number of students, especially in Vinh city, taking the exam is very large.Meanwhile, the admission rate is low.
Many parents in the city also said that if they calculate the scores and compare them with last year's benchmark scores, they can objectively predict the admission score. However, parents cannot calculate the fluctuation in the number of candidates between departure and arrival in a city, or even the number of candidates who will be transferred from schools outside the city. Therefore, before deciding to change, consideration is necessary.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga - Principal of Hung Dung Secondary School added: It is difficult to give accurate advice to students and parents at this time. Therefore, before each decision to change the wishes of students, we require the support and signature of parents. At the same time, we also require parents to consider carefully, to both increase the chances of admission but also not lose the rights of candidates.
