Putin suddenly convenes a meeting of generals and warns of retaliation against the US
President Vladimir Putin has convened a meeting of generals and military officials amid fresh nuclear tensions with the US and warned - Moscow could retaliate against Washington.

According to the Daily Star, Mr. Putin chaired a meeting with senior officials of the Russian Defense Ministry on November 20 to agree on the possibility of the US unilaterally withdrawing from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) signed in 1987 at the height of the Cold War.
"Of course, the US decision to withdraw from this treaty cannot go unanswered from our side," Mr. Putin warned.
Tensions between Russia and the West have escalated sharply this year due to the poisoning of former Russian spy Sergei Skripal in the UK, the Syrian issue, the Crimean peninsula, allegations of election interference as well as a number of other issues.
The US withdrawal from the INF has raised concerns about a new arms race. Meanwhile, European leaders fear that the collapse of the INF treaty could lead to a new Cold War.
Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg called on Moscow to move quickly to fully comply with the treaty.
